Chapter 1249: Using Fate!
The old god had already been badly injured, and had narrowly escaped death at the hands of Immortal Monarch Spirit Jade. While escorting Starryeyes, it had been a difficult challenge simply to stay in the True God level. It was like a dam that had been thrown together to hold back a chaotic maelstrom of water.
Hīs actions moments before had weakened hīm even further, especially dealing with the combined killing move from Xu Qing and the ascendees. That nail had struck hīm in exactly the same spot where hē had been wounded by Immortal Monarch Spirit Jade, and the reverberations were causing the dam to quiver on the verge of collapse.
Hīs temple had crumbled, making it impossible for hīm to maintain hīs True God cultivation level. His godhood was fading and hē was about to drop out of the True God level. Hē was essentially an oil lamp that was about to run out of fuel.
What was more, among the auras of the approaching cultivators were... Lower Immortal auras!
Given that, hīs mission was in grave danger. Hē had originally been planning to flee with Starryeyes and continued to protect hēr. But then Goddess Staryeyes gave orders in hēr godly voice. Shē ordered hīm... to die.
For a short moment, all hē did was look at hēr, a complicated expression on hīs face.
Gods did not have emotions. Hē was aware of that, of course. But perhaps because of hīs cultivation level dropping or perhaps because of hīs serious injury, there were fluctuations in hīs godliness. Hē had watched as shē became famous.
Are these emotions? hē wondered. Then hē turned toward Xu Qing and the ascendees, who were racing toward hīm. Heart filling with determination, hē headed toward them.
Golden light shone in hīs eyes, spreading rapidly to become a huge sea. Within that golden sea was terrifying godly might. The old god’s mangled body was visible in the golden light, rapidly expanding, growing larger, aura reaching terrifying levels.
Scattered bits of deafening chanting rang out that could shatter souls. The sound pushed the golden sea even farther in all directions. These were fluctuations that could shatter starry skies and shake universes!
This was hīs... self-detonation! Though hīs cultivation base had dropped and hīs godhood had dimmed, hē... was still a True God! The sound and light was like infinite suns exploding, creating a destructive force that could devastate anything in its path.
It was a light that could illuminate the cosmos. It swept through the stars! It enveloped everything! The cloud was wiped out of existence by it, as were all traces of the passage of Goddess Starryeyes. As a result, nobody present was capable of locking onto hēr to track
