Chapter 96: Question Linger
Princess Sylvia paid no attention to the supreme god. She wasn’t even aware if what she was seeing was reality or just an illusion of her own mind, but as the duchess portrayed it as the supreme god, she found it hard to believe. It was difficult for her to believe that the duchess had been surrounded by such a malevolent aura, and she had no idea how to escape it.
Her memories churned inside her.
"Grandfather, what are you doing to me?" she asked.
"Little princess, your powers are too dangerous for mankind, so I’m trying to keep them locked away," the previous ruler of the tribal empire said.
"Power? What is that? Can I leap high? Can I soar in the sky like my father, fighting in the heavens and defeating our enemies?" Sylvia asked.
"This is not that kind of power, princess. Your powers are growing within you. You have a strong core inside you that’s making you even stronger, even though you’ve never once trained to gain these powers," the previous ruler said.
"Then how did I acquire these powers?" she asked.
"This old man has no idea either. But you are a special child. You were born with an exceptionally high-level core within you, so you mustn’t tell anyone about this. Keep it a secret, or trouble will find you and pursue you," the previous ruler said, snapping Sylvia out of her reverie.
"Yes, my grandfather told me I have gained some power that I didn’t acquire through cultivation, even though I sometimes tried to emulate him. Just like this god is telling me. And how on earth couldn’t his attacks penetrate my shield when a god should possess powers beyond those of humans?" Sylvia pondered, while, in absent-mindedness, a golden light pierced through her, letting her know that the god had finally been able to harm her. Her chest was pierced by the golden light, causing her to scream in pain.
"Have you finally realized the power of the god?" the god mocked her. But as she saw that face again, memories flooded her mind like a book flipping rapidly before her. She could see bright white pillars, people in extraordinary attire, and finally, she found herself wearing something she had never worn before: an outfit that shone no less than a jewel, with minimalistic yet attractive jewelry that enhanced her features, making her feel like a different person.
"What are you doing to me? Stop it! Stop messing with my head!" Sylvia shouted, startling the god.
"I’m not doing anything," he said, confused.
