Chapter 95: Centurian Enigma
"Take the crown prince inside!" the emperor ordered. As Maximus started walking with Princess Sylvia, the guards stopped her. "You cannot go inside," they said.
"Why? Why can’t I go inside? I’m the guest of the crown prince," Sylvia demanded.
"We are ordered not to take you inside," the guards reiterated.
"So, this empire doesn’t even know the slightest etiquette of how to treat a guest, let alone a guest from another empire?" she asked with a sigh.
"As I said, we are not permitted to take you inside, so stop putting on an act and back off unless we have to take strict actions," the guards warned. Even the crown prince had no energy to put up a fight to stop this from happening.
"Take her to the room. I will meet her there," the emperor sent a message to the guards, pushing Sylvia toward a room in a corner of the palace.
"As you say, your majesty," they responded and pushed her toward the room, which was already in a quiet place. The guards were not treating her fairly but like a criminal. They kept pushing her from behind, making her stumble repeatedly.
"I’m walking. Can you stop with this behavior?" she growled.
"We are doing the right thing. We would treat even worse than our enemies, so you are in a good position," the guards mocked.
"Is this what I get for saving your prince?" she asked.
"He went to the place for you, so whether you saved the prince or not doesn’t matter. You are the one at fault, and everyone knows it. Now go inside and rot there," they pushed her into the room and locked her from the outside. The place was too narrow, barely enough for one person with no windows.
"Open the bloody door, or the consequences won’t be good," she shouted, but her voice didn’t reach anyone. Suddenly, she felt as if the place had connected to something else, like an outer space.
