Chapter 64: Changes
Rob stepped into the locker room of the women’s division at the end of the PPV with a satisfied look on his face. He didn’t even need to ask backstage personnel about the reactions.
He was confident that the PPV has been a major success. Especially, the women’s division. With only one match on the card, they had hit it out of the park, so to speak.
Just listening to the crowd while he was sitting in the commentary booth was enough for him to realize that the crowd was really into the whole match. And that controversial finish and Diana’s video package were the final nails in the coffins.
He knew deep down that he needed to put more variety into his programming and not just concentrate on just Dacey-Diana feud. But, the story that was being told was so juicy that it was beginning to get a lot of attention from the fans.
After that last video package, Rob was sure that a lot of people would tune in on Wednesday to see how Diana is going to react after her blowup backstage. He also overheard a few people commenting on what Mr. Gibson’s actions would be as well.
While most were sympathetic toward Mr. Gibson, they were also curious to see if he would bring Dacey to heel. It was obvious to them that he wasn’t exactly pleased to see Dacey win in such a way.
With the finish being controversial, now Rob had a lot of ways in which he could move the story forward. He knew that the focus of the story must shift towards Diana and her attempts to reclaim her championship back after being cheated.
If he added a bit of drama between Dacey and Mr. Gibson, then he could have a solid build-up toward the next PPV match. So, there was no need to focus too much attention on that story for now.
The issue now that he was facing was which match to put as the second match for the next PPV. Rob knew from the discussions with the management that the next PPV will probably be half an hour longer than usual PPVs.
It also meant that there will be room on the card for another women’s division match heading into the next PPV. Now, he was forced to choose which of the wrestlers would be featured on it.
He had two options. One option was to go ahead with Evelyn and Selena’s rivalry and have them have a match at the PPV. But, Rob felt that their rivalry didn’t have enough meat to drag on until then.
He knew he had not focused on developing other programs for the women’s division, as his concentration has solely been on developing the story of Diana and Dacey. He had neglected the other females in the locker room in order to establish Dacey as a viable threat to Diana.
