Becoming The Bigshot's Only Love After Breaking Her Engagement

Chapter 408: Bad Timing

When Xiaxia saw Ningwan, she seemed a bit scared, not knowing if Feng Qianru had said something to her.

As soon as she saw Ningwan, she shrank into Zhan Hanjue’s arms.

"Daddy, hug me."

Ningwan smiled and asked her, "Little one, do you remember me?"

Xiaxia nodded, angrily saying, "The bad person who drove away me and mommy, of course, I remember you."

Ningwan raised an eyebrow.

Zhan Hanjue’s face darkened, unhappily educating Xiaxia, "Xiaxia, you can’t say that. Auntie Ye and I are husband and wife..."

"Alright, why are you explaining to a child, she won’t understand. Forget it, she’s afraid of me, take her over there so she won’t be anxious and fearful the whole way." Ningwan interrupted Zhan Hanjue, asking him to hold Xiaxia and move to his other side.

"Ningwan, I’m sorry."

Zhan Hanjue whispered an apology to Ningwan.

Ningwan shook her head, closed her eyes, and simply leaned back in her seat to feign sleep.

It’s not that she’s magnanimous, it’s just a child, there’s no need to fuss with a child.

"Daddy, we’re home."

The car stopped, and Ningwan heard Xiaxia’s soft, excited voice.

This child still considers the Zhan Family to be her home.

Ningwan opened her eyes, puzzled as to why Feng Qianru hadn’t told her daughter about it.

Clearly, Xia Wenyuan also went with her, and supposedly, the whole family had already met.

There’s no reason to keep it from the child, letting her continue to think Zhan Hanjue is her father.

Suddenly, Ningwan thought of another child again.

She wanted to ask Zhan Hanjue but was afraid it wouldn’t be appropriate in front of Xiaxia.

So, she temporarily dismissed the thought and opened the car door to get out from the other side.

After Xiaxia got out of the car, she refused to walk on her own, still wanting Zhan Hanjue to hold her.

The little girl was smart; by having Zhan Hanjue hold her, she prevented Zhan Hanjue from getting close to Ningwan.

In her heart, she was probably very cautious of Ningwan, afraid she might take her daddy away.

However, Zhan Hanjue didn’t want to indulge her, nor did he want Ningwan to feel wronged.

With a stern face, he reprimanded, "Xiaxia, you are already grown up and can walk on your own. Daddy will hold your hand as you walk, there’s no need to be carried."

"But, I just want daddy to carry me." Xiaxia blinked her innocent big eyes, looking pitiably at Zhan Hanjue.

Ningwan said, "If she wants you to hold her, then hold her. She’s still a child, why fuss with her."

"But..."

"I’m fine; do you think I’d fight over with a child?" Ningwan pursed her lips and started walking ahead.

Left with no choice, Zhan Hanjue had to pick Xiaxia up.

Xiaxia’s little scheme succeeded, and she laughed happily.

Zhan Hanjue sternly reprimanded her, "Xiaxia, this isn’t right, you can’t do this in the future."

"But Xiaxia likes daddy." Xiaxia wrapped her arms around Zhan Hanjue’s neck, acting cute in his arms.

"Daddy likes Xiaxia too, but I won’t indulge you." Zhan Hanjue educated her.

Xiaxia nodded, pouting slightly, not sure if she really understood.

Ningwan was the first to return home, where Little Tuantuan was sitting on the sofa reading a book.

The little guy had recently learned a lot of words, so he particularly loved reading.

Upon hearing the servant greet Ningwan, he immediately turned his head.

"Mommy."

He greeted Ningwan as well.

Ningwan nodded, pointed back with her finger, and said, "I brought you a gift, go greet them quickly."

"A gift?" Little Tuantuan raised an eyebrow, seeming not very interested.

Ningwan said, "I guarantee you’ll like it."

Little Tuantuan then showed a joyful expression, hurriedly sliding off the sofa and running to the door.

When he reached the door and saw Zhan Hanjue carrying Xiaxia inside, he was instantly astonished, eyes widening.

"Xiaxia?"

"Brother."

Zhan Hanjue put Xiaxia down, and Little Tuantuan took her hand, looking her up and down in disbelief.

Once he confirmed it was really Xiaxia, he was overjoyed and quickly reached out to embrace her.

"It’s really you who came back, this is great."

Xiaxia was also very excited, even starting to sob and choke up.

Ningwan was speechless watching her son’s reaction; when she had left him for months and returned, he wasn’t this excited to see her again.

How could he suddenly be so close to this little girl?

It was simply baffling.

Zhan Hanjue exchanged a look with Ningwan, signaling that the two children should enjoy their joyful reunion, while they headed upstairs.

"Why does Little Tuantuan like Xiaxia so much?" Ningwan asked, puzzled, after going upstairs.

Zhan Hanjue shook his head, "I don’t know. Initially, I thought Tuantuan was too lonely and wanted same-age friends, so I wanted to send him to kindergarten."

"He isn’t like that; he most detests children of the same age. Others cry, and he finds it annoying. He seldom cries or fusses since he was young, so I took him to see a doctor and have his IQ tested, discovering he’s a high-IQ child. But I’ve always been busy and haven’t figured out how to educate him yet. I’m also curious why he suddenly became interested in Xiaxia." Ningwan shrugged.

Zhan Hanjue said, "This issue, I consulted some experts on, and it could be the Genius Youth Program for him, but he’s still young, there’s no rush. I can hire a private tutor for him to teach him at home first. We’ll decide when he gets older. After all, since I’ve just reunited with him, I don’t want to separate him right away; it’d be better to cultivate a good father-son relationship first."

"I think your father-son bond is cultivating quite well." Ningwan said with a smile.

Zhan Hanjue nodded, involuntarily curling his lips, "Tuantuan is a considerate child; he actively approached me, so we could develop this quickly."

"Speaking of which, there is something I want to ask you." Ningwan said.

Zhan Hanjue held her waist, nodded and said, "Go ahead, ask anything as long as you won’t get angry."

"Just talk; why are you holding my waist?" Ningwan chided, blushing.

Zhan Hanjue lowered his head, nudging her head, touched her nose and said in a husky voice, "Want to lean on you."

After saying that, he surprisingly leaned in to kiss her, becoming more urgent as he did.

Both of them, breathless from the kiss, separated, Zhan Hanjue’s eyes slightly reddened.

A brief separation enriches the reunion, especially since they hadn’t savored the last moment together and had been apart these days.

Almost impatiently, he lifted her into his arms, kissing her as he walked inside.

Ningwan wrapped her arms around his neck, also somewhat carried away by emotion.

However, just as they fell onto the bed, progressively moving into a deeper engagement, the sound of banging came from the door.

Immediately after, Tuantuan’s voice rang out, "Daddy, mommy, come out for a second, I have something to tell you."

The two of them were suddenly put in an awkward spot, having no choice but to pull away quickly.

Ningwan tidied her disheveled clothes and hair, looking at Zhan Hanjue with a flushed face.

Zhan Hanjue, on the other hand, looked dark-faced.

The precious darling he adored very much had become a sore spot in his heart.

Could he come at any time? Why this moment?
