Seoul Object Story

Chapter 301: James Space Station (5)

The James Space Station, transformed into a jungle by the Green Moon.

In the heart of the jungle lay the remnants of the once-massive James Space Station, a structure that retained traces of its unprecedented size.

It was part of the control room, the core of James Space Station.

A pristine white section of the space station’s exterior wall was embedded in the ground, giving the impression of a research facility built within the jungle.

Inside this control room, a man was frantically manipulating the control console.

“Damn it, damn it.”

The CCTV screens showing the exterior of the control room displayed the brutally mangled corpses of his colleagues.

His colleagues had ventured out boldly to find food and water in the jungle-transformed exterior, only to end up as lifeless bodies.

The creatures that had so viciously killed his colleagues resembled dinosaurs straight out of a movie.

They looked like the commonly known ‘Velociraptors’.

Unlike real velociraptors, these were featherless and as large as humans—‘fakes’.

They looked as if they had leapt straight out of a movie screen.

These fake velociraptors had attacked and killed the colleagues who had left the control room, then vanished without a trace.

“Where are they? Where on earth have they gone?”

As the man muttered, manipulating the console, the CCTV screens monitoring the area around the control room kept swiveling.

Whirr.

Despite the motor-driven cameras panning back and forth, the velociraptors that had been prowling around the control room were nowhere to be seen.

The only raptors visible were the corpses of those shot by his colleagues.

“Senior, that’s enough. The raptors… they all seem to have left.”

The junior colleague, who had been checking the CCTV with him, placed a hand on the man’s shoulder with a gloomy expression.

Hoo.

The man, noticing his junior’s expression of barely contained grief, briefly said, “I’m sorry,” and stopped checking the CCTV.

Unfortunately, the junior’s fiancé had been part of the food exploration team.

The junior forced a smile and spoke to the man.

“Seeing those monsters roaming outside, I guess everyone who wasn’t in the control room is dead, right?”

He might have thought he was choosing a relatively bright topic, but the subject the junior selected didn’t seem particularly cheerful.

“Well, maybe some of them might still be alive.”

The man tried to answer positively, but in his heart, he thought there was no way anyone could have survived.

It was a reasonable assumption, given the current situation, even though the control room was designed as a safe zone in case of an Object incident in space.

Emergency communication antenna.

Walls designed to withstand Objects.

A large number of CCTVs installed for Object surveillance.

And finally, an emergency power facility that could operate in space by utilizing Objects.

Even with such abundant facilities, the control room could only hold out and wait for rescue. The chances of survival for staff in other areas were likely very low.

At that moment, he heard his junior gasp.

“Senior, senior! Check the CCTV screen!”

Turning his head at the urgent voice, he saw the junior’s fiancé moving slightly at the edge of the CCTV screen.

His chest seemed to be rising and falling slowly, as if breathing heavily.

‘It’s hard to see clearly from this distance. And only the upper body is visible.’

This was due to the limitations of the CCTV’s viewing angle and range of motion.

“Quick, we need to go out and save him!”

The man restrained his junior, who looked ready to dash out immediately, and began preparing to go outside himself.

He stood up and grabbed a pistol loaded with anti-Object bullets.

“I’ll go out and check.”

The junior insisted on going himself, but it would be meaningless for him to go out to support and move an injured, robust man who could barely move.

“There might be raptors nearby, so maintain strict security.”

The man drew his pistol and slowly walked out of the control room.

Opening the door connecting to the outside, slowly.

The humid air was thick with the scent of blood.

Corpses were strewn everywhere.

Why did the raptors leave behind the humans they had hunted?

No matter where he turned his head, there were corpses everywhere.

We’ll need to clear away the bodies, but I’m not sure if just two of us can manage it properly.

The smell of corpses and blood would undoubtedly attract other predators.

Cautiously making his way to where the CCTV had captured the image, he saw the upper body of his colleague protruding from behind some debris.

His chest rising and falling as if breathing.

Huh, did he really survive?

Though he didn’t understand why the velociraptors would leave a survivor behind, it was an opportunity.

As he turned the corner and walked to where he could clearly see his colleague, the man couldn’t help but utter a dejected phrase.

“Ha, just like in the damn movies.”

The colleague lying on the ground was just a corpse with only the upper body remaining.

And just outside the CCTV’s range, a raptor was toying with the corpse.

Like an angler using bait to catch fish, it seemed to understand and utilize what the CCTV was.

So it is an Object phenomenon after all. Too intelligent to be just a wild animal.

And as the raptor’s eyes met the man’s, it seemed to grin as if amused.

Bang! Bang!

The man fired his pistol wildly while backing away to escape, but the raptor already understood exactly what the gun was, having experienced it before.

With skilled movements, the raptor dodged the line of fire and ducked behind obstacles.

The man tried to retreat while providing covering fire, but the moment he turned his head, the raptor’s massive jaws came crashing down on his head.
