Chapter 544: Muyang’s crazy wife.
On the way home, Chi Lian was describing how she had gone and rescued smarty pants from danger. The way she was describing the fire so exaggeratedly, one would think the cat was hanging over a volcano and not a small round bin. In fact she almost made it seem as if the cat was being used as a sacrifice in a ritual with her claims that the servants were chanting and Muyang knew this was highly improbable.
"Good job, wife." he complimented her, even giving her a thumbs up.
Other’s at home were less thrilled by her actions, the old madam for one was extremely angry and lightly beat Chi Lian on the back.
"How could you go there? Those people are not good, they could have harmed you and we would not able to do anything about it since you were trespassing."
Chi Lian pouted childishly and replied, "What could I have done grandma, they were about to set smarty pants on fire. He was crying so loudly but they kept poking him with sharp sticks. Look at the fur on his tail, it’s all burnt." She raised the cat and turned it around, exposing it’s tail to the old madam. "It was hanging from a tree by a rope grandma, we should sue those people, that was kidnapping and attempted murder."
"Is he really in pain?" the old asked.
Smarty pants meowed pitifully, turning around giving the old madam a ’yes, I am in extreme pain look’.
The old madam forgot about blaming Chi Lian and she took the cat away from her, comforting and cooing at it as she would an infant child. "Poor baby, you must have have been terrified. Let’s go and get you fed, you must be starving after spending all day suffering."
As the old madam walked smarty pants to the kitchen to over feed him, Muyang gave his wife an all knowing look.
"What?" she asked.
"You played grandma," he said with a smirk.
