Chapter 470: A brave young girl.
The depth of desperation in the green colored eyes of the princess was deep. With the strength of her grip, her medium height perfectly manicured pink coloured nails dug into Chi Lian’s arm. "Please," she repeated again.
"Look I am making some good suggestions here, you don’t need to panic we can still talk about things. You must realize that what you are asking of me is absurd. I am a stranger, how can you entrust the safety of your child to a stranger?"
As a mother she could not imagine sending her child away with a stranger. What if that stranger harmed them? What if she was secretly a child trafficker?
"I looked into you." The princess said. "You are a mother too, married to a powerful man from a powerful family and you have a good relationship with the princess of your nation."
"So?" Chi Lian asked her. This was one of these elaborate and make it make sense moments.
"I thought that if you take her then I can visit once a year to see her when I come to meet the princess for some reason. You own a television network you can cover the visit if you want, make us look like great friends."
"Why go through all this?" Chi Lian asked her. "Their must be an easier way..."
"There is no way." the princess said loudly, there was a hint of frustration in her voice. "I have to send her to a place where I have no prior relationship with anyone. I can’t send her to any of the empires or kingdoms in Europe or keep her here in our empire because she can be tracked. She needs to live her life, somewhere where she can be free to be whatever she wants to be. Somewhere safe where she can be taken care of out of the shadows. When she was six years old we registered her with the palace as one of my maids in training. When a princess of this empire gets married she takes her maids, attendants and guards with her. It’s supposed to symbolize that she is leaving no ties behind and wiling to devote herself to her husband’s family and nation. My mother will personally supervise my departure and all my people will be checked thoroughly. The same thing will happen when I get to Russia, that family even takes blood from their servants to ensure that no one is secretly harboring a bastard child. You said we could keep each other’s secrets, I am handing you mine to safe guard."
Chi Lian could understand all this but it still made no logical sense.
