Chapter 49: A proper slap in the face.
Opening or cutting of stones was always done where the public could view the process. Most individuals who could identify stones with jade with ease liked it this way because it was a chance for them to show off their talents. The business men liked it this way because they could bid on high grade jades as soon as the stone was opened. And this is why the young man moved to his specialized working area near the entrance of the shop to open the jade.
"Oh, someone has bought stones from this cursed shop, everyone, come and see this unlucky individual." Someone loudly shouted and drew the attention of the masses.
The man that shouted was darting back and forth with shifty eyes. He smiled evilly from the side after shouting.
From his actions, Chi Lian could tell that this was done with malicious intent. She just couldn’t identify the mastermind as of yet.
Right on cue, the blonde haired man from earlier walked in with a group of followers who she assumed was a gang thugs. They definitely looked the part from their dressing and appearance.
"Ho-ho let us see what she got." Blondie said.
"Ding Yuze, don’t be excessive." The shop owner stepped in. Sweat was running down his back from all the anxiety he was feeling. If there was no jade in these stones, his reputation would plunge even further down the drain and the young lady would be mocked.
"Ignore him." Chi Lian tugged on the shop owner’s arm. She picked the jade T4 identified as the king of jade and told the young man to start with it. Since so many people had gathered for a show, she might as well give them a god one.
The young man took the stone and started cutting.
"We can all see that there is nothing. This cursed shop is full of empty stones." One of the thugs laughed and his group followed suit.
"This is a waste of time." One of the business men outside in the crowd said.
