Mage And Wolf

Chapter 248

It looks like we’re going to be leaving with a large than usual group, but that’s not going to happen just yet. We’ve all got work to do, and we’re going to make sure that Lala will get an amazing party before we go. She’s already got abandonment issues, simply bailing on our friend to go adventure would just be cruel. Plus, who doesn’t like a good reason to celebrate?

The hotel staff love hosting parties as much as we like attending them, so they’ve already started decorating a conference room and making special bunny themed snacks for tonight’s festivities.

But this paperwork is so annoying. Who decided that we needed to sign things anyhow? There’s not much compared to what Hui’Jin informs me is normal, but it’s taking forever and I want bunny fluff. It takes so long in fact that Lala is back from her morning spa treatment before I finish, running happily into the room, excessively fluffy and smelling amazing from whatever they used on her fur.

"Lala! Come sit, we’re almost finished up here. Do you want to go see the city before your party?" Hui’Jin calls as she approaches and I move to intercept, giving Lala a hug and rubbing my face in the fluffy fur of her ears.

"I’ve missed you." I whisper as I hug her and she giggles.

"Me, or fluffy bunny ears?"

Maybe a little bit of both, honestly. "Both you, and your fluffy bunny ears. Now extra strength they tell me. Congratulations on your breakthrough."

Even the Avatars are intrigued by the sight of a Bunny species cultivator. They don’t usually have the desire for longevity and the power or the social status to try even if they do, so she’s a curiosity to everyone here, including the demons. As such, they treated her extra well during her spa visit as an excuse to talk with her, and she’s overjoyed. Even being around people all day at work she doesn’t get to chat enough, in her opinion.

Hui’Jin and Lelou both roll their eyes at that, knowing that the bunnies who work for the school and Orphanage chatter nonstop all day everyday, and what she really means is she doesn’t get to talk to enough new people, who haven’t heard every bit of office gossip. She’s come a long way from the timid slave bunny we rescued from a locked bedroom in a dying world. She’s a proper professional, with a steady job and a good reputation in the community.

It seems the bunnies of Arcana are picking a den leader soon, their equivalent of a mayor or species representative, and she’s a front runner. Everyone knows her, and she’s strong and well respected. It’s not a formal position in the city, more of an honorary community elder, but it will give every Bunny in the city a reason to come visit and talk to her on occasion, plus there will be even more social events to attend.
