Chapter 247
The Succubus Queen is overjoyed to have the Dragon Avatars all staying at her hotel, the area might not be under the jurisdiction of the Dragon Gods, but the demons view it much like her hotel being the location of choice for visiting foreign dignitaries. Not just any dignitaries, but very important ones to the cities they have agreements with. So she’s doing her best to keep them happy.
She even managed to arrange things so that we had the entire floor to ourselves, with only the hotel staff coming and going. Most of the Avatars settled in to do their afternoon work once they finished discussing the theoretical possibility of combined effort casting the new spell the Red Dragon had obtained. The consensus was that it was theoretically possible but highly improbable for their particular group, as they were lacking in certain skills that would be required to properly combine their powers into a cohesive whole.
Lelou and I were looking forward to a bit of spa time, the Red Dragon having just escaped the enthusiasm of her Avatar, when the hotel staff announced that we both, as well as Karl, have visitors waiting. That’s a bit unexpected, we’ve been gone longer than planned, but normally Arcana is used to that. Especially from me.
The visitors turn out to be each of our assistants, as well as a number of the Junior Priestesses that I had assigned the daily task of doing their own paperwork. The Avatars are a big attraction to the minor clergy, as they’re the representatives of their Gods in whatever world they visit, so the girls took the chance to come along and prove that they’re diligently doing their assigned tasks.
But if they think that the Avatars being here will save them from criticism, they’re in for a painful shock. The Blue Avatar is quite possibly the most strict taskmistress I’ve ever met when it comes to daily chores. Any sign of slacking or incompetence could well land them in Penitent Robes for the foreseeable future. But they don’t know that. Yet.
"Welcome everyone, set up as usual at the table in the common areas. If you have questions, we will be here to answer them. But kindly don’t bother the Avatars, they’re all very busy people, so what downtime they do get is precious." I instruct them, leading the way to the lounge area near my Suite.
The staff were notified of the arrivals and are bringing in additional chairs and tables now, while the Priestesses use the time to organize their paperwork and sneak glances at the Silver and Red Avatars, who are both on couches against the wall, contemplating the new information they’ve received.
"First up, we’ve got these notifications from the outposts. Nothing unusual in them that I saw. Then there’s a personal letter from someone in Lynn Lake, up in Canada. It’s marked eyes only, so I haven’t read it. That’s all for the morning, except a personal celebration. Lala has broken through to Condensation and is officially the strongest Bunny on the planet at the moment. I thought we should celebrate." Hui’Jin informs me.
"Good idea. Where is she now?"
