Chapter 217 Dreams of the past
"Attaining strength isn’t something you can do overnight"
"You’ll need years of practice to be good at a single magic type, and in your case, you’ll need to be the master of all magic types. Do you think you can do it?" Victoria asked.
"If the founder could, then I can" Roman replied causing Victoria to let out a tiny chuckle.
"You’re not the founder, no one would attain strength close to the founder, you can try but you still wouldn’t reach his level, the things he did is still surprising till this day"
"I’ll try my best" Roman spoke.
"Tomorrow, I’ll get Evelyn on my side, I don’t think I even need to get her, once she sees what you’re capable of, she would come to me, together we’ll plan how to take you to the height of magic without killing you"
"I’ll appreciate it if ne dying isn’t part of the plan" Roman muttered as he bow his head a little.
"Also, don’t use your summoning ability for now, there’s a reason I told you not to tame more beasts, summoner rely too much on their summons and that’s why they’re the weakest of all mages"
"Sure they are powerful summoners, but compare to the rest of the magic type, they are weaker, if you ask Evelyn, she’ll tell you summoners are the easiest to beat, learn other types of magic before summoning" Victoria spoke.
"Understood, also about the demon generals, do you think this is a sign that the demon lord wants to attack Avalon? There isn’t really another explanation for this" Roman asked.
"What business do you have with that now, also Avalon is under protection, demon lord or no demon lord, Avalon would remain standing for years to come, I’ll see you tomorrow in the arena, try your best" Victoria spoke as she opened the door and basically vanished.
Roman could sense her mana, but the moment she stepped outside, it vanished.
’At least Victoria is on my side, I’m fucking tired, I can’t believe this is my life now, when I first arrived I only had one thing on my mind, it’s still on my mind but at least my end goal is now different’
’And now I’m aroused, but I’m too tired to have sex, what the hell am I saying, maybe I should...nahh, I’m really tired, I’ll just’
Roman collapsed on the bed with his eyes closed, he had no idea what was wrong but he knew something was wrong, this wasn’t just sleep, it was something else.
’Shit, I can’t...’
.
.
.
"It seems everyone is here" A voice spoke and Roman eyes opened.
Once again he was in a lucid dream, the fight speaking was the founder of magic which he saw fighting the last time, Roman had no idea how he got here, he just knew he was here.
Roman blinked slowly as he took in his surroundings. The room was well lit with magic, glowing runes float around the room making it easier for him to see his surroundings clearly.
The walls were dark and rough, it looked like they were in a mine but it was a room, and in the center was a long table.
Ten people were seated around it.
Roman recognized some of them instantly. A few of the mages he had seen fighting against demons the last time, including the female that came to report to the founder that demons were attacking.
She sat quietly, her eyes focused on the man standing at the head of the table.
The founder of magic, Roman was still baffled by the resemblance, if he wasn’t from earth, he would have believed this was one of his ancestors.
He stood tall, calm, his presence alone making the entire room feel heavy, this wasn’t after the last battle, it was a long time in the future, Roman was sure years had passed.
He had no idea why he was seeing this, his ability was given to him, and he had no relationship with the founder.
Roman eyes moved across everyone seated, as if measuring each of them.
No one spoke.
Roman noticed there were three females and seven males, the same imbalance he noticed last time.
Each of them looked powerful in their own way. Some had calm expressions, others looked tense, and a few seemed deep in thought.
Then the founder spoke, a simple word, "The lands are dying."
His voice was steady.
"Demon attacks are increasing. Cities and villages are falling faster than we can rebuild them. At this rate, humanity will not last long."
A quiet silence followed his words.
One of the men leaned forward slightly. "We’ve been holding them back so far. It’s not that bad yet."
The founder shook his head slowly. "You’re only seeing the surface. The deeper regions have already fallen. What you call ’holding them back’ is only delaying the inevitable."
Another voice spoke, this time a female. "Then what do you suggest? Strengthen our defenses? Gather more mages?"
The founder’s eyes sharpened as he spoke.
"No."
That single word made the room tense, if he didn’t want to strengthen their defense, then what was his plan, the ten individuals eyes were on him as his next words flowed out of his mouth.
"We attack."
That was when the reaction came.
Several of them straightened in shock. One of the men even stood up halfway from his seat with his hands on the table.
"Attack? You mean... the demon stronghold?" he asked.
"Yes," the founder replied without hesitation. "We go to their home and end this at the source. We defeat the demon lord."
The room fell into chaos as all of them mouthed off their concerns.
"That’s suicide! You know that"
"If you fall, we lose everything! If we all fall then humanity is doomed!"
"You’re the strongest among us. If you die, humanity loses its pillar!"
"What happens if we all die"
"This isn’t the way forward, they have to be another way"
Voices overlapped, each one filled with worry or disbelief.
