Chapter 257 Enchantment
"Y-Yes, but...You’re still learning, so it didn’t make sense to go all out" She replied.
"Just so you know, If I had the chance I would have gone all out, but that’s kind of you" Roman replied with a smile
She quickly turned her face away, hoping he wouldn’t notice how red her cheeks had become, and after some seconds she turned back to him.
"Anyway, your speed is really good," she said, trying to return to her role. "You just need to work on your technique. If you keep training, you’ll become much better."
"Then I guess I’ll have to rely on you to teach me." Roman spoke.
"Of course!" she answered a little too quickly. Then she cleared her throat and tried again. "I mean, yes. I’ll teach you as much as I can, I can show you some of my enchantment, though it’ll take time to learn."
Roman smiled at her. "I’m a fast learner"
"Ohh, alright then, the first and most basic enchantment is the speed enchantment, though the strength enchantment is a close second"
"The enchantment let’s you increase your movement speed by strengthening your legs with mana. The amount of speed you gain depends on how much mana you infuse into the spell, and how well you can control the enchantment"
"It’s one of the most useful enchantment you can learn, of course they’re better speed enchantment spells... Wait, you’re not an enchanter are you?" She spoke.
"What would you say that?"
"I don’t think you realize how popular you are, I don’t know your magic type, but I know you are participating in a tournament in the palace, if you truly are an enchanter then you would have gotten the speed enchantment and others down already or else you won’t be able to participate in a duel"
"Would it make any difference now, you were ready to teach me so just do, I have my reasons for learning" Roman replied.
He could show her an enchantment spells, but that would just make her curious and ask around, even though it was already cats out of the bag for him, he still didn’t want to tell everyone.
"Are you planning to learn the spell circle so you can recognize it, I’ll applaud your dedication but it’s a little futile since they are two major types of enchantment..."
"Combat Enchantment and Imbuement Enchantment" She replied.
Roman hadn’t heard about the type of enchantment, but he already had a general idea what both of them were from their name, and the fact that he knew how enchantment worked from Aurelia.
"That’s interesting, can you explain both of them? I’ve never heard of any" Roman replied.
’So magic is really the way to get him, I’m glad I paid attention in the academy’
"Combat Enchantment is used in active battle, like speed, strength, protection, resistance, recovery and defense enchantments. I’m sure you’ve seen them in action, they allow enchanters to temporarily increase their abilities during a fight"
She locked eyes with Roman but quickly took her eyes off him as she continued, "It consumes mana as long as it is active, and depending on control and the amount of mana infuse, it can last for a few seconds or several minutes"
"Then there’s Imbuement Enchantment. It is used to enchant objects like weapons, armor and accessories. Using Imbuement directly stores the effect on the body of the object, and some of them can last for hours while other can last for years, depending on how they’re made, that’s it for both types"
"If you’re planning on recognizing them in a battle, it’ll be a little troublesome"
"Hmmm... So the main difference is one is used on the body and during fights, while the other is used in objects. Meaning Imbuement takes time right? Can it also be used on the body?" Roman asked.
"I can’t say for sure, but it is advised only to be used on objects, Imbuement is like using your mana to etch a magic circle onto an object, doing it on your body is going to be impossible because of the pain, and the desired effects might not be achieved since our body contains mana which might mess with the enchantment"
"I see, learning about magic is really interesting" Roman replied.
"Since that is out of the way, I can show you the speed enchantment if you still want to learn it" She spoke and Roman nodded eagerly.
She raised her hand and a small amount of mana began gathering around her palm. A faint blue glow appeared in the air slowly forming into a circle, she was purposely taking it slow to let Roman see the magic circle begin formed.
He watched as several lines appeared inside connecting symbols arranged around its edges, and circle glowed brighter as she continued infusing mana until it was complete.
The circle dissipated once she was done without her casting the spell, "This is the magic circle for a speed enchantment, I hope you got a good look at it, it’s pretty basic and fairly easy to learn as it has repeating symbols, I’ll do it again and this time, I’ll cast the spell to show you the effects"
’Got it down, it’s truly basic... Just a triangle symbol with a tail, a circle with three dots, and a wiggly cross repeating around, I’ll take another look just to be sure’
She began again creating the circle again and this time, Roman studied it carefully, taking in every detail. The symbols, their positioning, and even the small gaps between them, and once the magic circle was done, she cast the spell.
The circle disappeared once the enchantment was activated, Roman infused mana in his eyes to see if he would notice something different with her body, but he couldn’t, meaning it was impossible for him to know if an enchantment has been used unless he witnessed it.
The guard stepped back, bent her knees slightly taking a comfortable stance, and in an instant her body suddenly dashed forward.
It moved several meters in the blink of an eye and she stopped close to the wall before turning around and returning just as quickly, her movement were smooth without any wasted effort, and a smile formed on Roman’s face.
