Alithe’s face was etched with a deep frown out of concern and anxiety, his nervousness clear in his body language as he watched the direction in which Coco had gone.
He knew that she had led the creature away from them intentionally, in an attempt to save him and the guards, which is why his heart was pounding and was heavy with worry, his concern for his safety.
Oh, no, he wasn’t concerned for her safety.
He’s concerned for his own safety because he knows that if Coco got hurt very badly in this rescue mission, the village chief of Yogusho Village will have his head on a silver platter.
Chief Salamandara had made it clear that Coco is someone important to her, but that doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t let Coco do what she wants— no, no, Chief Salamandara wants Coco to grow.
In order to grow, Coco has to be sent out to do missions.
Unfortunately, Alithe had come to the monster village under the guise of visiting an old friend, but the truth is, he wanted to scout the forest for his pair.
Sure, he asked the captain of the order for guards to be sent to him and not his mercenaries, but that doesn’t mean that he wants the whole kingdom to know that his pair was missing.
Alithe groaned, shaking his head.
The ground was still shaking beneath their feet, the tremors shaking the surface like the aftermath of an earthquake and everyone knows that the tremors were created by the monster that was chasing the leader of their little rescue group.
