Chapter 51- Turn me On
"Master!?" Darithi was clearly taken aback after hearing what her master had just said before cutting the call.
She arrived, looking surprised, considering the consequences—retaliating against the family head might result in harsh punishment.
It might seem normal for a father to punish their child just enough to discipline them, but in high society, punishment could mean removing the child from property shares or similar measures, which could ruin the lifestyle they were accustomed to.
After all, in the past, the head of the family had warned Cruxius not to do certain things—like inquiring about his mother’s maternal family—while threatening to remove him from the heir position.
"Oh, you’re finally here," Cruxius, having already cut the call, looked toward Darithi as he walked to her.
He knew exactly what she was thinking.
Disrespecting the family head might invite scrutiny and consequences—though not severe, since it was still his father.
But if he recalled correctly, the fear of Darithi was born especially from the time the old man threatened him when he tried to learn about his maternal lineage.
At present age, Cruxius only knew that his mother came from royal blood—nothing more.
Nobility no longer held any real public influence, so his curiosity back then had been innocent.
And it was exactly that curiosity that earned him the first threat of his life—banishment from the family—on the day he turned 18.
