Chapter 540: Agitating Mother for a Whole Year
After experiencing some wary confrontations, a consensus was reached amongst them and a semblance of peace was restored.
Suizi’s wish of not getting beaten was fulfilled, which made her quite happy. She cooked up a table full of her specialty dishes, the family gathered together to celebrate. Even though it was past New Year’s, the festive mood was still in the air. This year had been particularly satisfactory for Suizi.
That night, the elder family members had quite a bit to drink. Yu Jingting was the instigator, he had single-handedly incapacitated his mother and mother-in-law with his wine pouring skills, not sparing even his own father.
Jingting tried to trick his father, Shuisheng, by replacing his alcohol with water, given the excellent tolerance of the latter. This attempt was discovered by Suizi’s father, which resulted in a round of punishment through drinking for Yu Jingting and backfired horribly.
So all the family members, except Suizi and Jiaojiao, scattered to their rooms and fell soundly asleep.
Suizi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so she ended up shouldering the responsibility of bathing the children. Fortunately, she had Jiaojiao’s help. It felt like a war was waged with water splashed everywhere, but they finally managed to get the two children to sleep.
"Once again, homage to the great mother." Suizi wiped the sweat off her brow.
These tasks were usually done with her mom, Wang Cuihua. Raising two lively kids was hard, indeed.
Whenever she thought about her pursuit of education and how Cuihua took such good care of her kids, she felt guilty. Even though to Cuihua, it was just a matter of family support and there was nothing to fuss about, Suizi remembered it all.
"Sis, what are you mumbling about?" asked Jiaojiao.
"You know, our mom is really great. She has taken such good care of my kids, so it’s only fair I should do as good a job with her children -- you and your brother."
