Chapter 539: She Can Do It
Suizi had thought of many words to persuade her mother.
Suizi knew that her mother, Chen Lijun, was different from others she had met. Chen Lijun was a resolute and uncompromising woman.
Chen Lijun was harsh on herself and even more so towards others. As her only daughter, Suizi carried her high hopes. Chen Lijun had also taken great pains to prepare for Suizi and her husband’s future.
Suizi had openly challenged her mother’s authority, and knew that her mother wouldn’t easily acquiesce.
But what she couldn’t imagine was that Chen Lijun actually agreed straightforwardly.
"Mom, do you really agree to let me go to school?" Suizi asked in disbelief. She didn’t even get scolded. It seemed too easy for a wish to come true.
"Don’t just listen to the first half of what I’m saying. I have conditions," Chen Lijun said.
While leisurely playing with the two babies, she said in an understated manner:
"It’s not impossible to go to school, but you can only attend if you get accepted into the top two schools in Beijing. That’s the only situation in which I’ll allow you to go."
"My goodness, are you trying to make Suizi become a top scholar?" Wang Cuihua gasped when she heard this.
Even though she was just a villager, who wouldn’t know what the top schools in the country were?
