Chapter 233: Well, I wish I knew
"Ah, one more thing," Alice added. "Do you believe in a previous life?"
As soon as she said this, Leo opened his eyes slowly.
"What? A previous life? Why would I want to believe in something that has no relevance to my present life?" Clarissa asked quite reasonably and Alice shrugged her shoulders.
"Ah, you’ll never know." She said. "This hatred you feel. What if we knew each other in our previous lives and I did something that made you hate me so much? That would explain why you feel a sudden hatred for me right now, don’t you think?" She smiled and Clarissa gave it a thought.
A previous life, huh?
"But you know something," Alice added and Clarissa raised her head to find a sudden melancholic look on Alice’s face. "That hatred from your previous life could’ve all been one big misunderstanding and you hated me for no reason. Don’t you think hating me now for no reason and just the feelings from your previous life would only continue with that misunderstanding?"
"Why are you talking like it’s real?" Clarissa asked her.
"Well, it’s something I thought long and hard about." Alice said. "It could be a simple speculation that held no water but it could also be true, right? So, if that were the case, don’t you think it’s time to let go?"
Alice smiled softly. Her smile was warm, and she looked like she was pleading.
"What is wrong with you?" Clarissa asked and Alice broke out of it.
"Ah, that was embarrassing." She said, looking away. "And to think I poured my heart into that. Well, it’s no use, I guess."
