It was an hour to midnight, which marked New Year’s Day, but Alice was alone, sitting by the river on a lover’s bridge.
She didn’t know who to call or what to do. She was just waiting for the time to go by and the new year to start already.
"Hah, it’s so cold." She said out loud and looked up at the sky. It wasn’t snowing but the weather was unbearably cold.
Leo was busy recharging since he had spent the entire week with her. Maybe they should’ve thought it over before New Year’s Eve, but who knew this would happen at the last minute?
Mark had to leave for an emergency; Devon needed to spend New Year’s Eve with his brother and Micheal... Well, even if she wanted him to be there, he was nowhere to be found.
She waited a bit longer, watching as the crowd gathered around the huge clock. The countdown would start from there and then fireworks.
No one walked alone. They were in the company of their friends, lovers, and family. She sighed.
"What are you sighing so much about?" She heard Michael’s voice and turned her head around to find him sitting on the edge of the bridge.
"You... What are you doing here?" She asked, startled. Once again, she did not realize when he approached.
He just liked to do as he pleased, come and go like it was a child’s game.
