My mates in Beastworld

Chapter 334 I’ll make it up to you

"Okay, okay, no need to stick with him anymore," Vincent said, pulling Lucas away from Oceanus with a firm tug, though his tone remained light. Lucas let out a playful huff but complied, rolling to the other side of Kyra, curling up comfortably.

"We’re worried for Rainbow," Vincent added, settling down on the other side of Lucas, making sure she was well-guarded between them. Damon nodded in agreement, positioning himself nearby with his usual serious expression.

"We’re here to guard," Damon said, his voice low but firm. Oceanus watched them with quiet amusement, the sight of Damon and Vincent taking their roles so seriously a little amusing.

Soon, the group found themselves slowly drifting into a peaceful sleep under the starry sky. Even Oceanus, despite his teasing earlier, allowed himself to relax. The gentle rustling of the wind through the trees, the soft chirping of crickets, and the quiet breathing of his little star created a serene atmosphere.

However, Damon didn’t dare to fully fall asleep. He was a light sleeper, always alert, even in the calmest of moments. His gaze swept over the surroundings, ensuring there were no threats nearby. But suddenly, something caught his eye.

A shadow shifted near a thick tree not too far from where they were resting. Damon’s eyes narrowed, focusing intently. There, in the darkness, he spotted a large figure—a bird, its wings folded as it watched them silently.

Eagle.

Damon’s jaw tightened as he recognized the distinct shape of the majestic bird, perched in the distance. It was no ordinary eagle—it was Silas, in his beast form. The eagle’s sharp, predatory eyes were fixed on Kyra and the group, watching protectively from the shadows.

Damon’s gaze remained fixed on the eagle for a moment longer, his lips thinning as frustration welled up inside him. He’s so weird, Damon thought, not for the first time. Silas, in his beast form, perched high and brooding, made him uneasy. But the truth was, Damon disliked him for far deeper reasons. Because of Silas, Kyra had run away. It had been their first night together as mates, and instead of spending it with him, she had fled into the night, leaving him with a hollow ache in his chest.
