Chapter 506: CH 506
That dodge of yours was absolutely perfect. I didn’t think you could pull that off either.’
That was what she would have said.
"This is not the enemy that I can fight, and this battle is starting to look not winnable and hopeless," Dark Soul whispered, his voice shaking.
He realised with bitter clarity that nothing seemed to work—not his tips and tricks, nor his plotting. Nothing was able to bridge this chasm of difference between the human fleet’s skill and firepower superiority.
Yet despite this, the will to live clawed its way back into his mind.
"Hey, old man, don’t you dare give up at this moment. Yes, it is hopeless, but we haven’t tried everything. And what if? What if, through desperate measures, we safeguard our lives? Chances might be slim, but they’re still there," pleaded White Kalen at this moment.
If not for his own weak will, he would have wanted to switch places and fight his way through for survival. But he knew he didn’t have the ability, and even if this old man was beaten until he was black and blue and had even lost hope of surviving, White Kalen knew that only he had the ability to secure a chance for their survival.
So he pleaded with the old man, and it worked.
Along with a bit of motivation from White Kalen and his raging thirst to live, Dark Soul’s spirit lifted again, and he opened up a communication line directly with his left-hand man, Barrak.
His raw and hoarse voice rang across the other side.
"Barrak! Target this damn human mech! Target it with every warship that you can free up! I want it to be pinned down and suppressed. Let me have some room to breathe—do it NOW!" he urged.
Meanwhile, within the Radiant Fortress, the scene was still one of chaos.
"We have lost battleship BS-41."
"Battlecruiser C-15 is asking for reinforcements ASAP! They have lost their shields, and the majority of their thrust. Human starfighters are closing in on them quickly, High Admiral!"
"Battle Squad 6 of the Central Vanguard has been sunk! All six battleships, two super-battleships, and twenty battlecruisers have been destroyed!"
"Human mechs, along with starfighters, are flooding in through the gaps, High Admiral!"
"BZ-8 has suffered severe damage and is asking to be reinforced ASAP. They have lost three battleships and are under heavy fire, demanding immediate support from the rear!"
"BZ-1 through BZ-4 fleets are asking for suppression fire on the human fleet ships!"
One report after another was being read aloud across the command bridge, and the air was palpable and heavy.
The current commander, Barrak, was bearing the pressure of the full armada on his shoulders, and his face was becoming paler and paler with each passing report.
"Damnit!" he forcefully uttered. "Deploy additional units to support whichever battle zone is demanding them. We have enough numbers, so let’s use them properly!" Barrak barked immediately.
"Provide fire support to Battle Zones 1 through 4 and all fleets within them. No matter what, don’t let the human fleet close in on us any longer."
"Langer, you go and deploy two fleets of a hundred ships each, all Tier Three, made up only of battleships and battlecruisers. Start flanking the human fleet from both flanks. Put some pressure on them. Divert some of their firepower away from our battle zones so we can stabilise."
"Pass the same order to Port Quarter Command and Starboard Quarter Command. Tell them to follow up on this as well."
In a few breaths, Barrak gave one order after another, dispatching ship after ship and fleet after fleet.
"As you command, High Admiral," Langer said with a salute, quickly slipping towards his communication system.
"Strike Group Iron Bell and Strike Group Iron Calamity, you have been authorised and ordered to move your fleets. Provide support to BZ-."
And even though the air around the bridge, or even the whole Republican armada, was oppressive and heavy, the command was quickly relayed, and one ship after another began moving through the central line of the Republican armada, quickly filling all the gaps that had just been created in their battle zones.
Out in the back, the Republican armada mobilised two hundred ships that split and surged from the armada’s central flank, beginning to flank Ritika’s fleets.
While doing so, these hundreds of battleships and battlecruisers launched attacks from their main cannons, one after another, flashing through space with brilliant azure light.
Some of the attacks were quickly screened out by the defences of the flanking Barracuda-class battlecruisers of the Ritika fleet, but a few managed to pass through and struck against the shields of the Barracuda-class battlecruisers.
The shields of the Barracuda-class ships flickered, but they were able to bear these attacks easily on their own.
Though caught in a sudden crossfire in a three-way strike, the Lance of the Void Grand Fleet’s 3rd Fleet was able to react quickly to this sudden attack from the Republican armada.
They had to divert their resources to fight on three fronts, and even the starfighters and mech squadrons had to move back after suffering losses under this sudden and fierce attack launched by the Republican armada.
"Damnit! Fuck! How did they react so quickly this time around?" cursed one of the mech pilots standing on the dorsal side of a Republican battlecruiser.
The battlecruiser had a giant hole ripped through its hull, and from the frozen state of the Republican people dressed in their military clothing, with exaggerated and fearful expressions floating around and within that gap, one could see a completely destroyed command bridge.
Barely anyone could even tell that it had once been a command bridge. Such was its state.
The cruiser had already lost all of its power.
It was a kill that Ren and his Dark Star Squad had completed, and just as they were about to head for another target, they detected the approaching fleets of the Republicans. Others were feeling the distance as well.
