Chapter 245: Ye Qiu Gets Arrested
“You’re calling me a creep?” Ye Qiu immediately snapped back. “How exactly?”
Qin Yunhan snorted, crossing her arms. “Go home, stand in front of a mirror, look at your outfit, look at your face—figure it out yourself.”
Ye Qiu’s face darkened. He instinctively glanced down at his tank top, beach shorts, and flip-flops. This look was cool and casual, no? How the hell was it giving ‘creep’ vibes?
He was about to argue further when he heard Wang Haoran turn to Song Zhenyu and say, “I’ll help you with the housing stuff. Leave it to me.”
Ye Qiu stopped mid-retort, turned to Song Zhenyu, and quickly said, “My place is already really cheap, and it’s quiet. It’s near the Qingling University campus—you won’t find a better deal anywhere.”
“Really? And how much is rent?” Wang Haoran asked.
Ye Qiu just grunted in response, not answering.
Instead, Song Zhenyu spoke up honestly: “One hundred a month. Utilities included. Fully furnished.”
“My god, Sister Zhenyu, he’s practically paying you to live there. Stuff like this only happens in fairy tales,” Wang Haoran said with a mocking tone. Then, narrowing his eyes, he asked, “Any other conditions?”
“Well… when I rented the place, he did kind of ‘interview’ me. Just a quick chat, really. But he also asked if I was single.” Song Zhenyu frowned slightly. “Only accepting single women as tenants?” Wang Haoran chuckled coldly and turned to the group. “You all heard that, right? If that’s not sketchy as hell, what is?”
“I said he was shady! If she actually moved in, it’d be like walking into a wolf’s den!” Qin Yunhan was the first to echo him.
Liu Hua chimed in, “Only taking single female tenants? That’s like textbook predatory behavior. The dude’s practically got ‘creep’ written on his forehead.”
“Yeah, no such thing as a free lunch. This flip-flop clown is definitely up to something.”
“Totally agree.”
Even Wei Zhihang and the others began to chime in.
Lu Ming, still on the ground clutching his arm, winced and said, “At least when I chase girls, I do it out in the open. You? You sneak around in the shadows. Real scumbag behavior. Ptooey!”
“You—” Ye Qiu glared, livid.
“What? Gonna hit me again? Do it! Come on, I dare you!” Lu Ming taunted with a sleazy grin.
Around them, Liu Hua and the others had already pulled out their phones and were recording.
Ye Qiu was fuming, but he had to swallow his anger. Liu Hua had already called the police, and people would be arriving soon. If he hit someone again, things would only spiral further out of control.
Wang Haoran’s words seemed to finally snap Song Zhenyu out of it.
The Affinity Halo on Ye Qiu had subtly dulled her wariness, but it wasn’t strong enough to completely override her critical thinking.
Her expression hardened. “Mr. Ye, I won’t be renting your place after all.”
【Ding! Host has successfully stopped the female lead Song Zhenyu from moving into Ye Qiu’s rental. Plot impact registered. Gained 600 Villain Points. Ye Qiu’s Protagonist Halo -30. Host’s Villain Halo +30!】
Wang Haoran collected the system reward with satisfaction and made a mental note.
From what he’d probed and heard in conversation, Ye Qiu seemed to be one of those “assassin-landlord” types of protagonists.
You know the trope—killer landlord and a house full of beautiful tenants. Sleazy, cliché, and overdone.
On the surface, it was just him renting rooms. In reality, it was a full-blown harem in the making. Shameless.
“Sister Zhenyu, aside from you, does anyone else live in that house?” Wang Haoran asked.
“No, not yet. I would’ve been the first tenant. I hadn’t even moved in yet,” she explained, having casually picked up this info while chatting with Ye Qiu earlier.
Wang Haoran nodded in satisfaction. Good. She was the first target—and now the plan was derailed.
And it’d stay that way.
He was a Super Villain, dammit. No way was he going to just sit back and let the protagonist start building a harem under his nose.
“I’ll find you a place,” Wang Haoran said sincerely. “It’ll be cheap, quiet, and perfect for studying.”
“That’s… a bit much, isn’t it?” Song Zhenyu hesitated, visibly flustered.
“I think of you like a sister. Like family. Are you really gonna act all formal with me?” Wang Haoran raised an eyebrow.
Song Zhenyu’s heart warmed, and she gave him a smile. “Alright then. I won’t say thank you.”
As the two of them finalized plans, Ye Qiu stood silently, a storm brewing in his heart.
Soon, officers from the police bureau arrived.
Ye Qiu was a non-student. He had come onto campus and assaulted someone, even breaking Lu Ming’s arm. That counted as a serious offense.
Ye Qiu tried to defend himself, claiming it was an act of justice.
But what kind of ‘justice’ involved snapping someone’s arm? Especially when Lu Ming hadn’t made the first move—Ye Qiu had clearly acted first.
After hearing both sides, the police took Ye Qiu away for further investigation.
As he left, he shot Wang Haoran a glare filled with venom.
Lu Ming, meanwhile, was sent to the school’s medical office.
Fortunately, the injury wasn’t too bad. The doctor diagnosed it as a joint dislocation—easily fixable. A splint, a bit of rest, and he’d be fine in a month or two.
When Wang Haoran heard the verdict, he turned to Lu Ming and said, “This can’t end privately. Sue him. Demand a public apology and a billion in compensation.”
“A billion?! Are you serious?” Lu Ming was dumbfounded.
“If he doesn’t pay, keep suing. I’ll get you a lawyer team and cover all the expenses. This is my turf. Him hitting you is like slapping me. No way I’m letting that slide,” Wang Haoran said coldly.
“Boss, if I were a girl, I’d marry you on the spot!” Lu Ming was overwhelmed with emotion and moved to hug him.
“Get lost. Don’t gross me out.” Wang Haoran shoved him away in disgust.
Lu Ming just laughed. “Fine, then I’ll repay you another way. Once I’m healed, I’ll scout out a gorgeous girlfriend for you!”
“Please don’t—” Wang Haoran was about to stop him, not wanting more trouble. But then paused.
Lu Ming was a minor villain. If he ran around causing chaos, it’d definitely attract more protagonists to slap around.
And right now? One or two protagonists just weren’t enough anymore. The more, the merrier.
Thinking this, Wang Haoran clapped Lu Ming’s good shoulder and said seriously, “Then get better quick. And don’t just find one beauty. Find ten!”
“Mission accepted!” Lu Ming stood straight and saluted.
