Rivers of the Night

Chapter 474: Tribulation (8)

Theron raised his blades to meet Ott again, his actions only becoming more and more restricted by the constant avalanche of crimson-gold javelins.

Taking one step back after another, his breathing was growing heavier, his body accumulating wounds and growing weaker.

He also noticed that there seemed to be a wide dome of light around them. It wasn’t obvious and was almost like a normal light of radiance coming from Ott, who was wielding a ridiculous amount of Light Mana.

But for Theron, who had been relying on the rain all the while, it was impossible to not notice.

Because the light was blocking the rain from reaching him. In fact, it was blocking rain in an entire 50-meter radius. Every time they hit the light barrier, they sizzled out of existence, smoking and steaming away as though touching a hot stove.

Theron coughed up another mouthful of blood as Ott managed to find another path through his defenses, yet another set of bloody gashes appearing across his chest.

The two didn’t exchange a single word as though they had never known one another. It seemed they knew that it would be useless, or both were so focused on the task at hand as though it would be the last thing they did in their lives...

Because it just might be.

BANG!

Ott slammed a foot down on the ground hard. The earth split more than it already had, reflective, glass-like Light Mana taking shape in the surroundings.

Sparks of lightning from the most recent bolt danced across them, and with every reverberating impact, the golden mirrors grew even brighter.

As though the sun’s rays were being concentrated through a magnifying glass, Ott seemed to break the laws of the world as Theron knew them, forging more Light Mana from Light Mana.
