"Your mistress?" Jared’s eyes widened with surprise followed by a short laugh "My bad man. I never would have guessed but I thought you got back with your mate or something,".
"No!" I shook my head giving him a measured smile "Belinda was the one who broke up my family. When I was still married to my mate, she was my mistress and after my mate left I was determined to marry her but somehow, we learnt of something shocking today and we must deal with it. Allowing her go would be disservice to me and my men,".
Cold beads of sweat formed on his forehead as he shifted his weight from one foot to another. He was trying to catch Belinda’s eyes but her gaze was downwards and she didn’t seem to want to look up at all.
"I can understand," he said "But what could she have done that is so grievous. Did she steal or anything?"
"Like we mentioned earlier Alpha," Lucius chirped in "It’s really none of your business. We appreciate your concern but we’re good. We’ll handle the matter. Is there something else you wanted?"
"No!" he shook his head giving us a strained smile "We’ll leave first," he muttered and fled the room.
As soon as he left I had confirmed the he was no longer around, I turned to Lucius after Theo had taken the culprit back to the holding cell. "Was it your idea to bring out Belinda? I’ve never seen Jared so rattled. Of all the Alphas in the East region, he’s the coldest. So, seeing him being disoriented at the side of Belinda means our suspicions are true,".
"It was Kragen’s idea," Lucius finally said. "While we went to see Belinda, he told me that Belinda wouldn’t have worked on her own and would not even do it unless she’s left with no choice at all. He also said that Witches are docile when they’re not aware of the extent of what harm their powers can cost. So, he told me that Jared would visit the pack house very soon to come search and when he does, we should arraign Belinda in front of him,".
