Xavier POV
"You! A god?" I pointed at Kragen then doubled over with laughter. When I have exhausted my laughter, I looked up at him. "Oh please! If you’re a god then what are you doing down here and with people like us. It’s too early for this or wait!" I paused and raised my hand "Is this the kind of scam you play to innocent, unsuspecting...".
"What are you talking about?" Kragen interrupted me with a scoff "What will make me claim something I am not, Xavier. Not everyone is like you, okay? And the only reason why I am taking it easy on you is because of your girls. They honestly do not deserve a negligent dad like you,".
My heart squeezed with annoyance at his description of me. "I am not a negligent dad," I countered "How about Selene? I’ve been with her and I know how she leaves the girls for days without stopping to know if they’re doing well. Time and again, she would leave them at the mercy of their nannies and yet you’re playing favorites, because she’s your friend,".
Kragen stared at me for a few minutes and shook his head. Then he turned to Lucius "I wonder why you’re still with him. Anyways, I’ll reach out in a few days, there are lots of things I want to confirm first before I make a move, so, I’ll keep in touch,".
Lucius nodded wordlessly. Kragen turned to me one last time and gave me a once over before he left. As soon as we were alone, I caught Lucius’s gaze on me. "What?" I scoffed "Don’t tell me you believed all of his lies? Oh, please...".
"It’s fine, Xavier," Lucius shook his head stifling a yawn, "It’s been a long day already and I just want to kick back and relax. I’ll meet up with you later,".
"C’mon, Lucius," I sighed "Fine, I’m sorry. It’s just that he was so annoying and for the life of me, I don’t understand the kind of friends that Selene makes. Either they’re all deranged or something else but that’s supposed to be the least of your worries, okay? I just feel like he’s over exaggerating all the things he said. Especially the one of I and Belinda’s fate intertwining. I don’t know what that means,".
"And you’re not bothered about it from everything I’ve gathered so far but all I can say to you, Xavier is you really need to be careful. Belinda said a lot of things that even in my wildest imaginations I would never think you’d do that. That girl messed you up and if it was really Jared who sent her then..."
