"Let me go!" I yelled pushing away from him.
Everything had happened so fast, that I didn’t have the chance to do anything before he snatched me out of Selene’s room.
"Is that the thanks I get from saving you from death this morning?" he scoffed "A minute more, Noah would have caught you in his wife’s bedroom and the last time I checked, you and him are not friends exactly. It’s enough that his nephew gives him a tough time... then you? Come on Kurtis, you and I know he’s not going to be as lenient he is with you as he is with Xavier,".
"Your point?" I lashed out.
"I saved your life and now you owe me," he chuckled and spread his hands to the sky "It feels so good to be myself after centuries of waiting. I don’t know if it’s safe to say that Selene is my good luck charm because since I met her, life has been pretty steady and not as bleak as it used to be,".
"On that topic," I drew closer to him "What kind of pact did you enter with Selene? I learned that you’re the King of Death and everyone knows you never give anything for free. So, what exactly did you force Selene to sign?"
"You must love Selene so well to be worried about her," he laughed "Relax, Kurtis... all of my business transactions with Selene were purely all the things she wanted. I didn’t force her... I don’t force people to do what they don’t want to by the way and as for what we signed, it’s strictly between us. So, I’m sorry but I cannot tell you anything except she permits me to tell you,".
I took in deep breaths trying not to get riled up by the amused smile he had on his face. He was enjoying everything and I knew the more I stayed here, the more I’d keep humoring him.
