Selene POV
I jumped with fright when I saw Noah leaning casually against the wall, his face was blank and his eyes closed. "Noah?" I called out coming closer to him "Are you alright? What are you doing out here?"
My heart was pounding in my chest as his eyes fluttered slowly. I searched his eyes wondering how long he’s been here for and if he had listened to my conversation with Janet. If he had then it would be a problem because I had sounded like I knew what was going on and I like it. I tried to remember everything I said, hoping I didn’t reveal anything of my intentions.
I watched as he sighed softly and pushed away from the wall "Are you done with Janet?" he asked quietly, staring at the wristwatch strapped around his left wrist. "That took longer than I had anticipated," he murmured and looked up to me for a response.
"Yes," I nodded smiling at him "We just finished and ... how long have you been here?’ I asked trying to read his face "I can’t believe you stayed under the sun and...".
"A while, Selene..." he said flatly looking at me without interest "And don’t worry, I was far from both of you and heard nothing. I am here because I forgot to tell you that we would be attending two meetings today. One is a meeting with the Alphas that have been in Moon Whispers for nearly a month now and secondly, with the pack elders also,".
"You would have dropped me a text or asked my maid to inform me as soon as I returned to my room, standing here all this while waiting..." I sighed "C’mon Noah... I don’t feel comfortable when you do all these chivalrous acts. Not only does it make me uncomfortable, it makes me feel bad,".
"I could drop a message with your maids and you might show up after 24 hours or not at all and..." he stopped me with a raise of his index finger "Don’t argue Selene. You’ve done it more times than I can count and please, I don’t want to quarrel with you today and maybe forever too. It’s too draining and I need my wits about me. so please go to your room and change into something presentable. The meeting will start in about thirty minutes and we did to dismiss this Alphas because they’re leaving today,".
"Then why do you need me?" I crossed my hands around my body, already angry at his subtle way of complaining that I was a nag "The last time I remember, you were the King and you gave all the decisions and...".
