Her questions hit me like a physical blow making me gape at her with an utter loss for words. I had run through almost fifty possible questions in my head she could ask me and she didn’t deem any of them fit but this. How original?

I know it is too late to conclude the kind of person Janet is but I felt like she was fishing for information... although I saw how fierce she was with Noah a while ago, I now realise it is all a ploy to get me to become an easy information prey in her hands. Nothing was confirmed yet but I knew it would be it. Because I didn’t think the line of her question was what professionals do.

Janet seemed to sense my discomfort and pressed on with an overly loud chuckle. "I mean, don’t get me wrong. I just feel like you’re trying to suppress the pain in your heart or maybe you like that he cheated or you... or do you enjoy the fact that he was unfaithful? Something along those lines," she said.

Finally, I gathered my thoughts and found my voice. Levelling a glare that could split a stone at Janet: "Do you know of any woman who was truly happy when their husband cheated?" I asked enunciating each word slowly with my eyes still on her. "Do you expect me to wallow in self-pity, cry and act as though it is my life that was taken from me and not my husband who cheated? Listen, Janet... I don’t know what you’ve heard about me or the findings you made but if when I was a weak wolf, self-pity, crying and acting all mushed up for people to be endeared to me never happened. I have never given and won’t give anyone the satisfaction of seeing me broken,".

Surprise flickered through her eyes at my words but disappeared almost a second later. She seemed to be taken aback by the forcefulness of my response that she remained quiet for a while. After an awkward pause, she ventured again.

"Is it ... because infidelity was a familiar pattern for you? Something you’d grown accustomed to because it has happened before?"

I clenched my hands beside me, praying to the moon that I would not lose my cool with this woman in front of me. I just hope that this wasn’t therapy because if it was this then it sucks. Since I didn’t respond immediately, Janet sighed and turned to me again.

"I’m sorry that my questions are a bit straightforward forward and from the expressions on your face that I’ve gotten so far, it seems all the questions are things you didn’t expect me to ask you," she paused and continued "Look, I know all about your history with Alpha Xavier... your first husband and father to your kids," she said adopting a more measured tone. "How you left him, got involved in a plane crash, survived, came back to him only to later end up rejecting him and marrying his uncle Lycan Noah instead and just so you know, it was a widespread gossip for a while. Everyone had it on their lips for the longest time and even now, so... I just heard it,".
