Noah POV
"What’s going on here?" Selene asked as her eyes scanned from me to Brooke. I almost lost my cool because of what Brooke clad on her body but I decided not to react, at least not at the moment. If more than anything, I enjoyed the jealousy that flashed through Selene’s eyes. Good! Now she’ll understand how I feel whenever I see her with Xavier.
"What is going on where?" I repeated looking at her coolly.
"Why is she in your room clad in a bath towel? And..." she paused to look at the food basket I was carrying "Why is that in your hand too?"
"I came to give it to her," I said with a shrug and she was spending a night in the pack house. It was too dark and dangerous outside so, I asked her to stay back. Nothing serious, by morning, she’ll be out of her hair and on her merry way,".
Selene closed her eyes; I could see she was trying not to explode. It was evident that was what she wanted to do at this moment but somehow when she opened her eyes, the anger and jealousy I had seen in them seemed to have fizzled away and was replaced with nonchalance. And blankness, it was almost as if, she didn’t care what was going on.
"There are tons of unused rooms in the pack house, Noah that are cleaned every day by the maids. They make sure the rooms are always spotless in situations where we have unannounced visitors but you choose to stow your ex-girlfriend in your room and she’s clad in nothing but that thing," she pointed at Brooke. "Are you trying to get back to me for going with Kurtis? Then if it’s what you’re doing, I’m so disappointed. Honestly, I expected more from you at least but this won’t be the first time so..." she sighed giving me a small smile "I just wanted to let you know I’m back. I’ll go now. Good night!".
She brushed past me and left. I wanted to follow her and explain that I wasn’t going to spend a night in the room with Brooke but as I turned to follow her, Brooke grabbed my hand and looked at me pleadingly.
"I know you want to go after your wife badly but please can you come help me figure out the shower thing? It keeps bringing out hot water when I want cold water," she said.
