Selene POV
"To convince them to officially recognize the office of the Luna?" I tried not to let my anger get the best of me "It is me who will be working with my Beta and if I am not comfortable with her, it’ll be chaotic. Brooke is good but I don’t want her to be my Beta. You can’t make decisions like this on my behalf without consulting me first,".
"I can," he said levelly gazing at me with disdain "Between me and you, I have the right to make decisions for whosoever is under my jurisdiction and you’re not just my Luna, you’re also my wife and my mate, you should submit to me and trust my judgement to make good decisions for you,".
My jaw dropped wide as I stared at Noah. Was this even happening? Is this the man I admired? The one who talked about how he loved to include women in anything and everything he did. The person in front of me wasn’t the man I had admired and hoped that if I married him, maybe... just maybe, I would be able to fall totally in love with him.
"Every minute we waste here, Xavier is closer to being dead," Kurtis came to stand between us, cutting off the hostility simmering in the air. "Please, your Majesty," he lowered his voice "I know it’s unfair and the worst thing anyone could think of and I understand that but please... let her help him. Not only is she your sister’s...".
"She can do whatever pleases her," Noah cut him off with a shrug "She’s an adult and I trust she can make good decisions by herself. If she wants to save her ex at the detriment of her marriage she can go ahead and do it I don’t care if Xavier is my son but I think at this point, I couldn’t care less about what happens to him. I’m sorry it sounds cold and unlike me per se but believe me, at this point, you all can do whatever pleases you and work for you. I’m off,".
With that, he turned on his feet and started in the direction he had just come from Brooke and Reid in his wake. My heart was heavy with annoyance as I stared at him leave. My marriage was over. Whatever hopes that I had that I could hold it together for a while crumbled. I could see it in his eyes... in the way he looked at me.
"Selene!" Kurtis’s voice shook me out of my reverie "We have to go," he said
"Okay!" I nodded "But there’s no one to watch the girls, I have to come with them. Is it alright with you?" I asked.
