Chapter 112: Fake
When they entered the meeting room, everyone in the room immediately stood up and simultaneously saluted Alex. He returned their salute and ordered the meeting to start.
Alex sat at the end of the table. On his left sat Mario and Bryan. And on his right side, near the entrance to the meeting room, sit Mel and Anton.
They discussed the results of tracking the GHOST headquarters, which turned out to fail. They arrived late because the base was already empty, they didn’t find anything.
After a deep thought, finally, Mel asks Alex... "Commander, who knows that XTeam sent a spotter?" She felt suspicious that someone had leaked their plan and gave GHOST a chance to escape.
Alex, who could guess Mel’s thoughts, shakes his head slowly. "Only people in this room." Alex swept four members of team one who were currently sitting around the meeting table. Then he continued his sentence, "Mel, I know what you’re thinking. And I’ve investigated it before. But, there’s nothing to suspect. Also, I trust you all. I believe you guys will not sell your country to others." Alex said it sounded serious.
"Commander, I didn’t mean to suspect my comrade. It is just..." Mel felt guilty. She couldn’t continue her sentence. But still, in her heart, she feels something amiss.
"Are the coordinates they gave us fake?" Mario asked expressionlessly.
Mel frowned... "I don’t think so. When I found their location, I clearly saw their activities." Mel immediately took out her laptop and typed quickly, instantly on the whiteboard at the other side of the room, an image appeared. They all gasp to see clear satellite photos of GHOST’s basecamp. "You guys can see the photo. It’s clear there are activities at the basecamp." Mel glances at Mario, then she adds... "I suspect they have a spy, or their intelligence is more powerful. They are one step ahead of us. That’s why they know our movement."
They fell silent.
A minute later, Alex spoke, "For spies, I don’t agree. But, if they are more sophisticated in terms of intelligence, I do agree."
They all nod in agreement.
