Don: The Blood Chains

Chapter 15: Death.

This whole thing was impossible, like there was no way that all of them died outside. It just wouldn’t make any sense. They are the biggest mafia, they have thousands of men and they come together with a convoy, with dozens outside waiting for whatever comes to them, let it be agents or their enemies, they would defend their bosses, at least that’s what they thought.

But now not even a sound came through the door, not a step, not a gunshot. It was eerily silent like in a horror movie, and an open door, a dead body in front of it, and the silence with the curiosity to what the fuck is happening, why there isn’t any signal? Why can’t they reach anybody?

The only one of them who was actually thinking was none other than Gabbana again. He still, even if he was losing himself and breaking, started thinking what could have happened outside, and the thought of what he talked about. The foundation around Joseph.

The DAG members, even if they are elite soldiers, special forces, or at least once, couldn’t have done it alone. They couldn’t have killed all of the family heads. Then came the second thing: all the guards disappeared from the estates without a fucking trace. That was the biggest mystery of it all, and Gabbana knew the answer at least, he thought he did.

They weren’t operating alone, there was no way of it. There gotta be at least a hundred members behind them, behind Joseph, that are building the Cassian family, and that was his lowest estimate about it. If he thought about the money that disappeared, that number could be even more, a few hundred people not even thinking about the connections those operatives could and have.

And he hit the jackpot. That’s exactly what was happening and that was exactly what happened back then, because in fact it was impossible to do it alone, and they knew it very well. That’s why they recruited some people, and when the money came in, they started building the foundation with their connections and gathered more and more people... but not ordinary ones, no, no.

They were all with a background of trained killers, all kinds and types of soldiers, officers. They recruited all kinds of people to help them, and they joined with a smile on their face... why?

Because of the money, and because they finally had something to serve for. All of them got abandoned by the military and where they came from, and the DAG exactly aimed for these people, those who were suffering, those who were in a desperate situation. They grabbed them and used them back then and are using them now... yeah, even now.

"We’re fucked," Gabanna said as he turned to Vincente. "We need to get out..." He said again, and his voice was low, full with tension, while Vincente was started, finally panicking, as well as Jelena too.

They were gangsters and they are gangsters, but they never touched that greatness as their parents. All the assets, all the legacy fell on them, and to be true, they weren’t ruthless killers, but more like those who do it to keep up the image of the family, because that was what meant the power, that was the power and not really them. They did nothing revolutionary, they grew up, took position as dons and continued what their parents did, the bribery, the drug market, smuggling it in and selling, nothing new and to be true, they did it well.

Why would they start a new business, new ways, when the old one still brings in tens of millions every single month. They are billionaires, all of them, but one thing they couldn’t do and what they are lacking is the key thing, how their parents built up the family out of nowhere and got the most influential ones.
