Chapter 13: Horror.
"Don’t!" Olivia suddenly shouted again as Gabbana’s finger was already pulling the trigger. She was dizzy from the beating, her eyebrow was cut, as well as her nose was slightly broken just like Joseph’s, but she needed to at least do one thing.
If it’s true that they are coming, she needs to get time because in her mind, she would be killed.
Yeah, she thought that Joseph, even if he was a Cassian, even if he was a bad person, she was the one that helped him get out, she was the one who signed it. She thought he felt something toward her, that she was the one that understood him and spoke with him, that at least he cared about her a little bit.
And that little thing could help her with only one thing. To stay alive and tell the truth to the world, what is really happening and what happened back then because now she knew the full story, and she believed in it a hundred percent... maybe 99 percent.
Not just that, but if they show up and kill off Gabbana and the others, the power vacuum will be created, and the only remaining family with a legacy is going to be Joseph and the Cassian family, with the last member in it being him. And even if he doesn’t want to deal with it, even if he just wants to finally die and end it all, the family blood still runs in his veins and the operators and who knows how many others behind them will look at Joseph as the Don, the man they are loyal to.
It also meant if he dies now, they will kill everybody, and it will just create more power vacuum, because if suddenly everybody dies in the old families, it’s just going to cause a lot of conspiracy theories. The three most influential underworld figures died with Cassian, who got released, and with an agent?
It’s going to cause headlines if that happens, and the underworld will be turned into chaos. Yeah, because even though Gabbana, Vincente, and Jelana are egotistic motherfuckers who got everything from the beginning, their names were power, not just that, but they had men, influence, and bribed officials. With that, they kept the underworld in peace, and everybody knew their place. But if they die, chaos will erupt to take their place, to become the next big family.
To not let that happen, one of these things needed to happen.
One, they kill her and Joseph, and they stay alive and the whole story of Joseph was just a bluff, but the chance of it was low, because Joseph wanted to die, so why would he bluff?
Second, they die, as well as Olivia, and Joseph walks out. That scenario had the higher chance, and if that happened, everybody would know that it was him. The news already talked about his pardoning, that he got let out of prison, and not just that, every single agency, as well as civilians and the underworld, knew he was out and if the agent that was escorting him, who is Olivia, suddenly dies with these big families, it will be obvious that it was him who killed them.
She needed to get time, for the DAG if they are really working with him to get here, and at the same time for her too, to survive this whole encounter, to be the key witness of all of it.
"Why wouldn’t I do it, you heard it too, you bitch." Gabbana said as he now aimed his gun at Olivia. "You want to buy time for your agents to come?" He asked with a smile on his face, a maniac one just like Jelena earlier... he was losing it. "Let me tell you something." He stepped to her from Joseph and grabbed her hair, pulling it up. She twitched as Gabnna lifted her head and just stared right into her eyes. "We bribed them too, your little democracy, your little bubble is also bribed, lady... so they are not coming..."
