Chapter 68: I Promise You
A few times, Sophie asks Abigail to let her out of the nursing home and rent a small studio apartment. Still, Abigail refuses because she is concerned about Sophie’s health.
"Granny, I already have a job that pays decent," Abigail says. She doesn’t want to discuss her new job at the cafe in detail, fearing it might shock her grandmother.
With a reassuring smile, she adds, "And I also have a new place to live." She wants to ease Grandma’s worries.
"Abby, let me live with you. There’s no need to spend so much money on this place. I can’t let you work too hard to pay for my nursing home when I can live with you. It’s too much for you. It’s not your responsibility to take care of me," Sophie sincerely expresses her feelings.
"Oh, please, Granny, stop bringing this up. I can’t let you out now. You know I pay for this nursing home every year, right?" Abigail isn’t completely honest with her grandmother. She deliberately says this to make Grandma stay and stop asking to leave the nursing home.
Deep in her heart, Abigail longed to live with Grandma, but her health was the top priority. Life in the middle of the city was terrible for Grandma’s well-being. While here? Grandma could engage in activities with friends her age and enjoy clean air in this quieter place.
Abigail dreamed of one day owning a lovely house where she could afford to hire a dedicated maid and a dedicated nurse to care for Grandma. If she could make that happen, she would definitely bring Grandma to live with her.
For now, she focused on working harder in her industry to earn money and fulfill her dream of buying a beautiful property in a remote area with clean air and a healthy environment.
Sophie took a deep breath as she listened to Abigail’s words.
