Chapter 251: Life On Line (5)
The royal attendants that were with him served the food as Arren greeted the empress. As usual, Liviera was wearing a rather elegant royal suit, even though he was only inside his room.
His demeanor was still full of noble grace; no one would suspect that he was actually under house arrest. They often interacted these days, but Arren admitted he was still intimidated sometimes by the Empress.
"Your Majesty," Arren saluted with a small smile.
Liviera gently smiled at him and held his hand. "When will you call me, Royal Mother?" As usual, the empress would tease him whenever he greeted him like this.
Arren’s face flushed as he smiled humbly, but he didn’t respond. The empress was also used to it already, so he didn’t pursue this matter anymore.
"Okay then, let’’s eat. I’m looking forward to what dish you prepare this time."
Soon, they were already at the table. Liviera’s cousin was standing behind him while the two royal attendants stood at the side. While most of the time they only ate quietly, there were also times that they would talk about some things.
But they never really talked about the ongoing war or Spade. At first, Arren thought the empress would take the initiative to ask about the war or the situation outside, but he never brought up this matter.
He only realized that while the empress was indeed under house arrest, Spade didn’t really limit his freedom inside, only that he could ever leave the palace as his protection.
So, Liviera mostly knew or might have been informed about what was happening. Arren never brought up anything, and they proceeded to eat peacefully.
To his surprise, halfway through their lunch, someone broke their silence.
