Chapter 210: Loyalty Vs. Filial Piety (1)
An ultimatum. It was a harsh decision, but it was necessary. Strictly speaking, Spade giving an ultimatum to Levin was better than not giving the alpha a choice at all.
He considered their relationship and the fact that Levin wasn’t truly involved in what his parents were doing, at least not yet based on the evidence. This was also going to be his final mission if Levin ever chose to fight with his family.
No doubt, no matter what his decision was, Levin would be miserable for a while, if not all of his life.
Serrien’s eyes widened slightly, and yet it didn’t take long for understanding to dawn on him. He bowed his head and exhaled a distressed sigh. He was really in a difficult position. What more Levin who would be the center of it later on?
Spade noticed the change in Serrien’s mood, but he didn’t console him either. This was a situation in which no words of comfort could give them any kind of consolation; only time would tell, or even the result instead.
No one knew for sure. Spade only needed to focus; he couldn’t take any failure in this mission; otherwise, the people he cared for were at stake, not to mention the millions of people in the empire.
He closed his eyes for a moment, unmoving in the seat as though he had already taken a nap. Serrien, who was also distraught, fell silent and didn’t bother him.
Spade was always worried; what he dreamed of still lingered in his mind and would occasionally bother him. He knew it had significance, and in the ever-increasing worries of Spade, that dream became his source of fear and never failed to make him overthink.
Protect him. Spade didn’t doubt who he was referring to.
