Chapter 126
Ashley stood silently in place. He had to take a deep breath just to resist the urge to rip off the blindfold immediately. Losing his composure would only work against him. Dominique would never lose his cool—and if Ashley did, he’d only be giving the man more reason to mock him.
For a while, Dominique said nothing, simply staring at the son who was resisting in the only way he could—by keeping his mouth tightly shut. After a moment of silence, Ashley caught the deepening scent of cigars and realized Dominique had taken in a drag and let it out.
“You pulled a pretty cute little stunt.”
Dominique finally spoke in a slow, relaxed tone. Ashley didn’t react this time either. Whether he responded or not, Dominique continued as if he couldn’t care less.
“For you to lose your mind and make a scene like that... I really don’t get what you see in that mutt.”
His voice was laced with unmistakable scorn.
“A piece of trash who can’t even manifest.”
Ashley nearly shouted, but he held himself back by clenching his fists. He had no idea what had happened after he was arrested.
He had to stay calm. Analyze the situation. If he wanted to seize the next opportunity.
He vowed to repay that man for insulting Koi—someday, no matter what.
Dominique watched his silent son for a moment, then brought the cigar to his lips again.
He inhaled deeply, then exhaled slowly, eyes flickering toward Ashley’s tightly clenched fists before returning to his face.
