All the people in the hall started to make noise again.
"How can this guy be selected? His rank is below mine!"
"That’s it! I’m leaving. The selection is rigged!"
Voices of frustration echoed throughout the hall.
I then stood up, and at that moment, I could feel all eyes on me, making me anxious.
Why was I selected? I don’t have any notable merits or contributions. Is this even fair to the other adventurers?
Questions started flooding my mind as I walked toward the stage, my eyes fixed on the ground.
Ida was watching me. In her mind, she was thinking the same thing: What will others say if the lowest ranker in the guild gets selected? It was bound to cause an uproar.
She glanced at her guildmaster. What she saw on that face was calmness, confidence, and unwavering determination.
Ida was stunned. She then turned back toward me, who was now approaching the stage.
Suddenly, my arm was grabbed, and I was pulled to stand beside Bob, now facing the crowd. I couldn’t bring myself to lift my head, it felt like I had betrayed their hopes.
"With that, this concludes the selection for the upcoming tournament," Mirinda announced.
