To say she was shocked was an understatement. Arissa wasn’t able to express how she felt listening to Nicklaus. She felt honored to be someone he could love.
What stunned her the most was the fact he had tears at the corner of his eyes. She gently raised her hand to his face and touched his tears.
Her heart skipped a beat when she felt those warm liquids. Today held so many surprises and his tears were among them. She would never have guessed he could be a softie.
"I love you," she assured him as she wiped his intending tears, "...and I want us to take our kids to school together whenever you’re free. And I want you to become that father who would teach our daughter how a queen is treated and our son how he should treat a queen,"
"Thank you so much," Nicklaus said, pulling her into a hug. He buried his face into the nook of her neck and thanked his stars. He felt so exhilarated that he feared his heart might burst open soon.
Arissa dropped soft pats on his head when she felt him finally let go of his tears and let them fall on her shoulders. Her mind flashed to what Mrs. Wyatt told him about his mother and she understood why he could be crying.
"I’m here, Nick," she whispered into his ear, "I won’t leave and I’ll make sure you have a reason to be happy again each second of your life,"
Nicklaus nodded from her neck. He planted a deep kiss on her neck and stood straight before her.
Arissa gave him a radiant smile, "This is an impressive arrangement, thank you so much," she admired, turning away from him.
