Chapter 303: Lustful Desires.
Before the couple left the hospital, it was already dusk. As per Arissa’s wish, they spent more time in the ward, watching father and daughter as they formed a bond.
Their bond was so easy to form. It was as if it long existed between them and they were never separated. They were heartwarming to watch.
Stephen just met Adele but he did not neglect her likes and dislikes. He made inquiries from Adele about her favorites and dislikes as they discussed and made mental notes of them all.
Arissa remembered watching them with wet eyes. Her mother had no idea what simple things like her favorite color, food, or dress code were. Rather, it was Mr. Adams who could have some clue about everything.
Seeing Adele bond with her father so well just on the first day they met explained volumes to Arissa that she lived without parents all through her life. Those two monsters wouldn’t even pass as guidance to her.
She enjoyed their conversations and most times, she laughed with them. Stephen’s visit was short and he promised to return the next day.
She joined Stephen out of Adele’s ward together with Nicklaus to see her mother one last time. Getting there, Diego reported her mother had left a few minutes before they arrived.
The couple left the hospital for home after Arissa bid good night to Beatrice and a small nod to Stephen. Unlike in the morning, the stares Arissa got from the people around were less hostile. The murmurs also reduced - not that she cared. She doesn’t know them and neither were they in anyway acquaintances with her and for that reason, they should reason and say whatever they want about her. Their opinion doesn’t matter in her life anyway.
Nicklaus opened the car door for her to walk in. Getting in, he started the car and drove off. Diego would spend a night with the couple.
