Chapter 45: [BONUS - ] Never cry alone.
The chilling wind that sent everyone back into their houses did nothing to the lady in white nightwear as she just stood there staring at the sky, counting the stars with tears.
For the past twenty-eight years, this had turned into her mid-morning ritual ever since she lost her daughter.
The balcony door slid open from the inside and she turned to face the person with a pretentious smile on her lips, "I never knew you were back,"
"You are crying again," the man said. It wasn’t a question but a certain speech.
"No, I wasn’t," the lady lied smoothly. The balcony is dimmed with only light from the sky perching on it so, she isn’t scared of lying because he can’t see her face.
"Don’t lie to me, Beatrice!" the man scolded calmly, and before Beatrice would give another convincing white lie, he pressed the bulb switch and made the place fully bright again.
The man let out a sigh before moving closer to her, "I told you never to cry alone," he said with a pained voice as he pulled her into a tight comforting hug.
Comforting both himself and her.
And the moment the man wrapped his hands around her, she did not hold it any longer as she burst out in tears, "It’s almost twenty-nine years Stephen," she complained burying her face into his chest, "Stephen, you always promised she would be reunited with me before I know it but from dusk till dawn on each passing seconds, the years count and_" she stopped as her tears choked her and stopped her from talking.
