"Your hand," Selene noticed. She turned his hand to see his palm. "It has healed. It wasn’t as serious as I thought," she said, relieved that she no longer had to worry. "It has happened to me once when my body took a while to heal a small cut."
Xavier stared at his hand, confused as to how it had healed when the holy weapon had left the mark. It couldn’t have been his doing.
Selene noticed Xavier did not share her excitement that his hand was now headed. "Did you want your hand to stay bruised? Is it a victory scar?"
Selene once witnessed vampires in the army complain amongst themselves that a scar they got from a victory had healed. Was it the same for Xavier?
"No," Xavier looked away from his hand. "I’m surprised it took so long to heal. It is good it is all better."
Xavier knew it couldn’t be his body healing his wound like normal. The only reasonable answer was that it had something to do with Selene but what? Purebloods never healed from wounds created by holy weapons which was why these weapons needed to be destroyed.
If he asked, Xavier doubted Selene would be able to provide him with an answer since she believed his body naturally healed itself. It could be something she did without realising but it didn’t make sense. Selene’s parents were killed with the holy weapons kept in the palace. It was the only way to kill them.
"Xavier," Selene palmed his face. "You are starting to scare me. Is there more to this bruise? Is there trouble I must know about?"
