Chapter 58: If He Is Worthy
"A great sacrifice," Constantine said suddenly.
"I feel the same way. Which of us would do such a thing? Maybe we could plan to do it now, but who of us would have made that choice earlier, at the beginning of our journey to gain more and more power?" Cordelia muttered and then turned to Cassandra and said:
"That’s why I want you to watch both your nieces and Atlas, at least try to protect them, and I don’t mean if their lives are in danger, I mean when you think they’re going to die."
When Cassandra heard these words, she looked intently into Cordelia’s eyes and said, "Am I allowed to test him? To see if he is worthy?"
"After all I’ve told you, how could you possibly conclude that he’s not worthy?" Cordelia asked in astonishment.
"My lady...Humans are unreliable creatures. There are very few among them who can be trusted, who do not want to use others, who do not want to be take advantage of everything they see, who can live their lives properly. That includes you and Talon. It’s not as easy for one human to understand others as it should be. You’ve been through this recently, remember?" Cassandra replied.
Cordelia nodded her head in understanding, then looked at Cassandra and said, "Very well, do your magic, dear."
Then she said, "I have different tasks for the rest of you, it is time for the Sages who have always stayed where they are to become active. Cassandra, you may go."
With those words, Cassandra left the room and instantly cast a spell on herself. After only fifteen seconds, Cassandra appeared as a completely different person, a young girl, perhaps sixteen or seventeen years old.
