Chapter 393: His Promise
William stirred as the ringing of his mobile phone pulled him from sleep. Still groggy, he lazily reached for the device.
"Hello?" he answered, stifling a yawn. It was just Larry, so he didn’t bother with formalities.
"The signal from the number traces back to Clayton University Hospital," Larry began. "Most of the calls were made abroad, to Lamey Country, to be exact. Recently, though, there were four calls made to another burner number here in our country."
"Hah, that’s definitely Tim Clayton," William said with a smirk. "Michael is clearly running a secret investigation on him. Now I’m curious, who is Tim contacting with those burner phones? That’s what we need to find out, Larry. Make this your top priority. I want to know exactly what dealings Tim has that requires such secrecy!"
He gave Larry further instructions before ending the call. Glancing at the wall clock, he shrugged. It was almost eight in the morning, and his stomach was growling.
As expected, his thoughtful wife hadn’t woken him up and had let him sleep in. He glanced at the door, smirking as he began counting under his breath. "Ten, nine, eight..."
On cue, the door opened, and Sanya walked in with a wide smile.
"I knew you’d wake up a bit late again," she teased, carrying a breakfast tray. "Here, eat."
William grinned as she placed the tray on the bed. He let her feed him, feeling almost like a pampered baby. But he wasn’t complaining, he loved how much she cared for him. Despite the mental exhaustion from work, Sanya was his safe haven, his place to rest and recharge.
