Chapter 1260: I’m Only Here for the Money
After speaking, she pushed the door open, intending to end this pointless conversation.
"Ugly woman, stop right there."
Scarlett Yates had just stepped one foot into the room when the arrogant voice of Rose Yates came from behind her. This time, however, it lacked its usual haughty momentum and even carried a hint of sobbing.
Rose Yates was crying?
Scarlett was taken aback. She was stunned for a few seconds before turning around.
Sure enough, Rose was crying, her eyes were red, and tears were welling up in her eyes. She bit her lip stubbornly, holding her head high, resisting letting them fall.
This was something Scarlett had not expected.
She observed in surprise, looking at the small face outside the door that clearly wanted to cry yet desperately held back, frowning slightly as she leaned against the doorframe without speaking.
The proud Little Princess was actually crying.
Scarlett thought about it carefully and felt that she hadn’t said anything too excessive. Compared to the other calling her ugly woman, she felt she had been quite polite.
"If you really like money, I can give you my share, but don’t fight me for Daddy." The Little Princess clenched her small fists, crying even if proudly, unwilling to lower her noble head.
"Daddy is really important to me. I don’t want him to be taken away. Daddy rarely punished me before, but today you came, and he was so harsh with me." Tears had welled in the Little Princess’s eyes for a long time and finally fell, landing on her pink, beautiful little face like dewdrops rolling on a delicate flower.
"Ugly woman, no, I won’t call you ugly woman anymore, or a pauper, as long as you don’t fight me for Daddy, I can share half of everything I have with you, okay?"
At the end, the proud Little Princess was not so proud anymore. Though her noble head remained unbowed, the arrogance on her small face was completely gone.
Scarlett was once again taken aback.
The crying Rose, the pleading Rose...
Scarlett saw a hint of nervousness, a hint of unease, and a hint of fear in those tear-filled eyes.
She suddenly realized that Rose was genuinely afraid that she would take away Noah Yates’s parental love.
In a daze, she found some shadows of her past self in Rose.
Back then, Noah was just as important in her heart. If a brother and sister had suddenly appeared, she too would have been afraid that the person she loved most would be taken away.
Now, having seen through Noah, he was no longer important in her life. But a long, long time ago, he was like a god to her; she respected him, worshiped him, and the image of a father in her mind was that of an omnipotent god.
Rose’s feelings towards Noah now were just like hers once were.
Thinking of this, Scarlett finally softened.
"Don’t worry, I won’t fight you for him," she said earnestly.
Rose, however, didn’t believe her, blinking and biting her lip, full of doubt: "Then why did you come back? Didn’t you come back to fight my brother and me?"
"You guessed right just now; it’s only for the money," Scarlett smiled, "Apart from money, I don’t care about anything else. Didn’t you say you’d give me your share of the money? As long as you do what you said, I’ll take the money and leave. You see, once I’m gone, what is there to fight for?"
