Chapter 1259: Don’t Let Me Down
"Second, even if you become our sister, neither I nor brother will truly acknowledge you. A woman like you—ugly and poor, just like a beggar—isn’t worthy of being our sister. Calling you sister is only out of respect for Dad; we don’t want Dad to be upset."
Scarlett Yates was still smiling, encouraging, "Oh, go on, what else?"
Rose Yates’ little face, still bearing some childishness, showed a hint of confusion, her delicate and pretty eyebrows furrowing.
This old woman, does she have a problem with her brain?
She was just insulted, so why is she still smiling? Shouldn’t she be very angry?
Could it be that she thinks Dad punished them because of her, and thus her status in Dad’s eyes is much higher, so she doesn’t take her words seriously?
Rose Yates grew more and more angry at the thought, clearly having a cute and tender face yet insisting on acting profound and mature, putting on a self-important demeanor. She lifted her petite chin even higher and said, with even more arrogance, "Also, don’t think that just because Dad acknowledged you, he’ll give you all his money. Even if he has to share it in the future, brother and I will get the most. Maybe Dad feels sorry for your poverty and might give you a little bit, but definitely not much. So, don’t think of snatching away the share of money that belongs to brother and me."
Scarlett Yates found it increasingly amusing.
Initially, she thought Rose Yates, despite her young age, was highly scheming and a rather complex character. But hearing these childish words coming out of her mouth, she realized she had overestimated her.
Right now, Rose Yates truly seemed like a ten-year-old should.
She couldn’t help but want to tease her a little. After listening, she sighed, furrowed her brows, pretending to be very troubled.
Rose Yates indeed fell for it and asked her, "Why are you sighing?"
Scarlett Yates bent down, leaned closer to her, and sighed lightly again, speaking with a tone of difficulty, "But on the way to the Yates Family, Dad said he would give me more money in the future and even said my share would definitely be more than yours. Could it be Dad lied to me?"
"You’re talking nonsense. Dad wouldn’t say such things! Brother and I are his favorite children. How could he be better to you than us?" Rose Yates said in disbelief, her face wrinkling up in a panic.
"Why not? If we’re talking about time, I’ve been by Dad’s side for longer, and I’m his first child, which is different from you in some sense. If he truly didn’t value me, he wouldn’t have brought me back after all these years, right?" After saying this, Rose Yates’ smile grew deeper, pretending to be very smug.
Rose Yates couldn’t stand teasing. When outsiders are present, she could hold it in, but now, with only her and Scarlett Yates in the hallway, her temper couldn’t be suppressed. She bit her lip and growled, "You’re talking nonsense. I don’t believe it. Dad’s favorites are brother and me, not you, the poor woman, ugly monster! Old woman, don’t you dare think of snatching Dad away from brother and me. Your evil plan won’t succeed. We’ll definitely stop you."
"Oh." Scarlett Yates chuckled again, shrugged slightly, looking very indifferent. "Alright, I’ll wait for you to stop my evil scheme, sister. Don’t let me down, okay?"
