Chapter 126: Final Step (3)
Sweat beaded on Adrian’s brow as he fought to keep his composure. But just as Skaha was about to touch him, a voice called out from outside, distracting the old man.
"Uncle, are you in there?" Ahuli asked.
"Yes," Skaha replied, turning around. "I’ll be there in a moment."
After taking another look in the room, Skaha turned and left. Adrian sighed in relief as Skaha’s footsteps faded in the distance.
"That was close," Adrian mumbled before rushing toward the window and returning to his house.
However, Adrian was still worried. The expression on Skaha’s face told him that the old man knew something was off. Adrian wanted to slowly work his way around, gradually unsealing the heroes’ abilities.
’But that’s out of the window now,’ Adrian thought, walking inside his room where the girls awaited him.
"How was it?" Amelia asked, getting off the seat.
Adrian smiled, showing them the scroll. "I got the scroll, but we need to move fast. I suspect Skaha would start looking for it soon."
"...you fucked it up?" Sophia asked, giving Amelia a look, and they both smiled.
Back when they were in the guild, Adrian rarely ever made mistakes. They used to find it funny to even think of Adrian messing up because it never happened. So now, when Adrian did make a mistake, they couldn’t help but smile.
