Chapter 124: Final Step (1)
A week passed without any incidents. Slowly, the tribe’s trust in Adrian, no, Milka, increased gradually, primarily after he received another promotion within days of joining Ahuli’s special squad and was made its second-in-command.
Unfortunately, Ski, the former second-in-command, died during a hunting trip that Milka participated in. No one knew why Ski’s Direwolf suddenly tore into its owner and threw him down a cliff.
Tribals argued that some spirit must have taken control of the wolf and killed Ski for crimes of his past life. They weren’t entirely wrong. Ski’s wolf had been possessed, not by a spirit but by staring into someone’s vengeful eyes.
It was a tragedy, but the tribe could only blame fate and move on. Everything got normal within the tribe without any problems with the slaves.
The new slaves had settled nicely. With their abilities sealed and inventory emptied, they couldn’t have done anything, even if the heroes wanted to.
Strangely enough, when it was time for Milka’s slaves to be marked, he lashed out as soon as the shaman touched them. Milka nearly killed the shaman for touching ’his women’.
The complaint reached Ahuli, but he merely smiled before dismissing the case. In his eyes, Milka was just acting possessive of what he owned and found the reaction amusing.
If Milka didn’t want anyone else touching his slaves, then he would be allowed to mark them on his own. Milka thanked the chieftain before he and his slaves walked out and got marked by him.
There were days when Milka didn’t appear before anyone. But when he did, there were love marks all over him. While the tribesmen wore tattoos to symbolise their pride and honour, Adrian wore love bites all over his body.
