The space ahead shimmered like a dark abyss, and then, the upper half of a man's body emerged. He was entirely black, the color of pure ink.
His form-fitting armor seemed to be one with his body. His face was also dark, his hair like night itself, and his eyes glowed like blood.
Even with Elliot and Kumoko's maxed-out Level 10 Appraisal, a single, chilling line of text popped up:
[Appraisal Failed]
Strangely, this black-clad man evoked completely opposite feelings in Elliot and Kumoko. Kumoko felt a faint sense of kinship, as if her power, to some extent, originated from the same source as his.
But Elliot felt an extreme, bone-chilling terror. The way the man looked at him... it was like an experienced programmer staring at a baffling bug in the code, the kind that meant another all-nighter, a feeling of utter despair. And he, Elliot, was that bug!
This pitch-black man was an Administrator, known as 'Kuro' (Black). Elliot remembered from the story: after Kumoko killed Fire Dragon Rend, this Administrator, Kuro, would appear. Kuro wouldn't harm Kumoko because the Evil God D had taken an interest in her.
But for him? It was a different story. He wasn't supposed to be in this world; he was an anomaly, an error!
The moment Kuro saw Elliot, an overwhelming pressure crashed down on him, making it almost impossible to breathe.
