Chapter 260: Drama
Mary wasn’t the only one keenly watching Rita as she waited for the drug to take control but Ian was equally observing, though he made sure to keep his line of sight very much coordinated to prevent the crowd from knowing anything, and in fact, in just a few minutes the drug immediately started showing signs of kicking in.
Rita who was busy trying to decipher and plan immediately started feeling a little bit weird, and the more she tried observing her glass of champagne, the more she felt like something was wrong somewhere, her heart beat immediately speeding up and as if something was speaking to her, she immediately lifted her line of sight and she came face to face with Mary’s eyes, eyes that seemed to taunt and mock her, making her feel like she was about to lose control of herself.
Displaying a lot of panic, her line of sight changed from Mary to her glass, then back to Mary and that is when she realized that something was wrong, that the drink she was holding had been drugged, but before she could even voice out her thoughts, or before she could even find her way out of the situation, the drug immediately took effect.
It was at this same moment that someone beside her commented on how beautiful Mary and Ian seemed to be, since Ian’s arms were wrapped around Mary’s waist with a lot of possession and displaying a lot of affection.
"Look at how beautiful this couple looks like! Mrs. Mo sure is interesting."
"I know, right? Like the Mo family seems so blessed"
Rita immediately felt a new surge of anger as she immediately turned towards the women and shouted at them, warning them to shut up.
"Shut up! I said shut up! What is so great about that girl, huh? What is so great about this street rat? What?? The Huang family? You gotta be joking! She’s nothing but a street rat and she will always be a street rat trying to latch herself on my man!!"
It was at this same moment that she started speaking that the music in the hall immediately went silent for some type of reason, and her voice, being exceptionally loud, echoed through the whole hall, making people gasp wide in shock as her father immediately felt the nerves on his head about to explode because the same girl he warned to keep to herself is the same girl who was publicly embarrassing him.
